Hi, Does anyone know about giving a newborn oral vitamin k instead of the shot? I am also seeking a pediatrician in the Weston area who is ok with not giving all vacinations or spreading them out.
Thanks

Our first child was born in the hospital and we had to sign waivers for her not to receive shots or the vitamin K. Do your research and know your rights. You do not have to do anything that you are not comfortable with! I heard that there is a doctor in Weston that is very holistic and AP friendly. I can't remember her name but she had a location attached to the Hollywood Birth Center as well. I would also recommend opting out of the Florida Shots tracking program. Even if you decide to do the shots, I still recommend opting out. Feel free to message me if you want more info. Just as a note, all babies born after 2003 are automatically tracked (hospital born or not) unless you opt out.

Are you having a boy or a girl? I ask because if circumcision isn't an issue then you don't need to give the vitamin k shot at all. Babies naturally get their vitamin k around the 4th day. I had a girl and she never got the shot. I don't have a "great" pediatrician, but she is open to not vaccinating, check out Pediatric Associates that is the group she is with. Good Luck!

I think the name of the doctor being referred to is Dr. Linda Colon.

Unless your baby has a lot of bruising during delivery or you are planning on a circumcision, I don't think vitamin K is necessary IMO. I also use a doctor from Pediatric Associates who is located in Plantation (Broward Blvd, just past Nob) and she is open to a delayed vaccination schedule.

Alicia Salland is in Weston. She is great. She will spread out the shots. You just need to talk to her about it.
