TV Show "Big Rich Texas"-oh Brother!

Did anyone see this awful show? It's a Dallas (and I question whether it's really Dallas, seems more like a burb of Dallas) version of the Real Housewives. Does any one have any inside scoop on this terrible show? I couldn't even watch the whole episode, it was that bad.

I am ashamed at how my fellow Texans are portrayed in this horrible show. And I have to wonder about how exclusive this country club could really be if they allowed a show like this to be filmed there.

Let me please assure all of you non-Texans that Texas is not really like this! It was hard enough for me to shake the stigma of the "Dallas" TV show of yester-year, and now this CRAPOLA! I would love to hear feedback from Texans and non-Texans alike who have seen this show.

I am living at Lake Whitney 40 mins from Fort Worth and trust me, Dallas and Fort Worth have a line drawn, so for these women to go to Fort Worth to Film is very funny for me. Yes FW is down to earth, be who you are and Dallas is the more upper class or pretending to be upper class.

I loved the show and these types of people are everywhere, I just moved up north from Dallas and I met a ton of people like this when I lived there. They live all over the world and people like this make for interesting tv. I enjoy this show and jerseylicious b/c I purposfully live a non drama life and these shows remind me why!

OMG! I'm from Dallas and I agree with everyone else, there is such a HUGE line drawn between Dallas and Fort Worth I'm surprised that the Dallas socialites haven't thrown a fit about it being filmed in Fort Worth. People who aren't from DFW always think of it as one big place, but they are VERY different cultures and their down towns are like 30 something miles apart so they really are not the same. They just make up a metro together. Plus, I just watched it and your right, this show was irritating, but it could be because I'm actually from there and hate the stereotype.

I'd never heard of it and noone I know, has heard of it. So, I looked it up. This is what the Dallas Magazine D says about it.....
http://frontrow.dmagazine.com/2011/07/big-rich-texas-epis...

The reviewer says these women live in Highland Park or Plano. It makes sense that its a wealthy suburb of Dallas. Noone with money actually lives IN Dallas. I do know some people that resemble these profiles. They are the well known stereotypes of rich, tanned, big haired, botoxed Texas women that especially North Dallas is known for. That part is not far off the mark. But the reviewer makes a point...the club that the series is centered around is actually in Fort Worth - 47 miles away. Dallas doesn't go to Fort Worth for a social club. There are 2 totally differant styles between the 2 cities. Perfect example: there is a famous shirt here "In Dallas you call it Sushi, In Fort Worth, we call it Bait" Dallas socialites would consider that a serious downgrade.

I haven't seen this show, but I feel exactly the same way about Real Housewives of NJ (although I DO watch it, because I just love how crazy they all are). I grew up in Southern NJ which is not all citi-fied or dirty as all of NJ seems to have a name for. We lived at the beach, my boyfriend was captain of the surf team for God's sake! It is called the Garden State after all.. Anyway, I know what you mean about a show making your home out to be something it's not & taking offense to it.

Oh great... now I have to TiVo it. It's like a car wreck... don't wanna look, but I just can't help it.

I moved to Texas 5 years ago and found Texans to be fantastic friendly people.... except when they're on the tollway <grin>.

I don't watch any reality T.V. I live just south of Dallas and Ft. Worth, and have never heard of the show, but I did read the synopsis posted here. It was hilarious! I've been to the Woodhaven Country Club many times as a guest with friends who are members (and it is in Ft. Worth, not Dallas!), and never thought of it as particularly exclusive. I've been there several times with my children to swim, and for various events in the evenings. The people who are members are down to earth and welcoming. I'm sure there are people like the one's on the show in Ft. Worth and in Dallas, but you can find people like that everywhere. Hopefully those watching the show realize it is simply entertainment, and Texas is nothing like what they are seeing in the show.

I can assure you there are plenty of overly dramatic, soap opera type Texans, (especially Highland Park). I've met a few, having lived in Texas almost all my life! And of course, they are hand picked to make interesting television.

These people are all over the world, so yes... annoying when people think *all* Texans are like that, but I'm pretty certain most people realize it's not a blanket statement for everyone. The club they are part of is made to look like it's extremely exclusive, when it isn't in reality.

Haha, I just watched it last night and found it fairly amusing, in the Jerry springer way..makes you feel better about not being a part of it all! There are places and people like this everywhere you go. It was especially funny when the pageant girl saw the naughty girls tattoo and said "why would anyone want C.U.Next.Tuesday on their body?" lol!

I ONLY watched it because I have friends that live in the Dallas area.

I didn't even watch all of it and deleted it out of the drv. It made my teeth hurt I was grinding them because the show was THAT BAD.

Who gets a tattoo on their foot that says THAT?!
