Hi Ladies, My husband and I just started trying to conceive our 2nd child. Our 1st child was conceived after a bumpy road of infertility treatments, surgery, miscarriage.... It was stressful but obviously well worth it. So, now we are working on #2 and I am trying to be more relaxed and less crazy (ha-ha) this time. So, I have a couple of questions for you.
1. When did you start living like you were pregnant? What I mean by this, is did you cut out things like caffeine, ibuprofin, artificial stuff, alcohol, etc. while you were trying to get pregnant, or when you found out you were pregnant? Our first time around I lived like I was pregnant the whole time we were trying (which was a long time). This is on my mind today because I am feeling awful (fever, body aches, etc) and would love to take something like ibuprofin, but I keep thinking, "What if I'm pregnant and I hurt the baby?" (it's too early to test)
2. Any strategies for not totally obsessing during the 2 week wait? :) It's definitely better this time around because I have my daughter to keep me busy, but it's amazing how much it can consume your mind!
Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

You can take Tylenol, Benadryl, Actifed, Claritin, Triaminic, Robitussin, Chloraseptic, Cepacol, Mylanta, Tums, Metamucil, Citracel, Immodium while pregnant... I'm 5 months and that is the list my ob gave me of safe meds.

As for alcohol I don't drink anyways, so it wasn't ever an issue.

It is recommended that you take prenatals though, just in case. So maintain a healthy and active lifestyle and keep things like caffeinated beverages and other things in moderation. Good luck!

I made no adjustments until I knew I was preggo.
That said, I never had any issues conceiving, though.

Even though, if you took ibuprofen at the period where it's too early to test, it's also too early to hurt the baby.
I wouldn't stress about that.

And personally, I don't think I'd adjust my life before I knew that I had to (assuming you're not doing outrageously irresponsible things like drinking benders and smoking a pack a day. LOL. )

The first time we tried to get pregnant I didn't make any changes. After that miscarriage, the next time, I lived like I was pregnant. The third time I didn't change anything. Because of my age and other problems we had had before, I knew it would take us awhile to get pregnant and I didn't want to be stressing out about whether I should or shouldn't have something. I would remind myself of all of the people that get pregnant without planning it and are doing all sorts of things that you shouldn't when they first get pregnant and their babies are healthy.

Good luck to you.

since now they're FINALLY admitting that tylenol and other painkillers can have serious health issues, it's best to stay away from ALL meds when you're trying to conceive and certainly when you get pregnant. my former family doctor told me all sorts of meds were perfectly safe, and sure enough, almost all of them have proven over time to have dramatically dire side effects.
if you are really aching, i doubt that a tylenol will do any severe damage. but if you are trying to conceive, why not give your body the best possible advantages by keeping it as clean as you can?

Well my Doc always said to take Prenatal vitamins, while trying and before actually being pregnant, then while being pregnant and also after being pregnant while breastfeeding.

Try meditating.
For some people this helps stress.
