Trying to Concieve, Have a Few Questions!!!

I just recently had my Mirena IUD removed this past March. I had it in for approx. 2 1/2 years. I spotted a little when they removed it (about 2 or 3 days) and then about 2 weeks later I had a period for about 3 or 4 days. I tested myself with the home ovulation tester and it said I was ovulating. Well, that was in April, so I was due to have a period on the 12 of May. It is now the 16th and still now period. I know it is a little early, but I took a pregnancy test and came up negative. I was wondering has anyone had an IUD and how long did it take for them to become regular again after if was taken out. PLEASE help me, I don't know if there is something wrong.

What can I do next?

Well, thank you everyone for all of the answers you have given me. I started my period last night so naturally I was a little dissappointed. So if anyone has any more advice on how to conceive like: positions and anything else that might be of any help to me please let me know. I want to thank everyone again b/c I am glad there are other people out there that I can talk to about this stuff, b/c you all know husbands just don't understand....lol Thanks again

Hi-I just thought I would point you to the site I used when TTC (trying to conceive.) There are lots of ladies there with all kinds of experience after various birth control methods. It's www.justmommies.com and it was very helpful for answering lots of questions (some embarassing) about the process. Good luck!

You may very well be pregnant but it's just not showing up yet because you are too early. Just give it a couple of more days and if you still haven't started, take another test in another 5 days or so. Good Luck!!!!

You very well could be pregnant, but since your cycle is off, you won't know yet. I wasn't back to normal yet when I conceived my second child. I was a few days late, but a test was negative. A few days later, still negative. A few days later, a faint positive. Your body is just not back to normal, yet. If you KNOW you were ovulating, then that is a good start. Good luck, really, and LET US KNOW WHAT HAPPENS!

I agree with the others. Test again in a week or so. I was with a fertility specialist when I got pregnant with my son. All the tests, including a blood test, came up negative. I was alomost 2 months along before they discovered him with an ultrasound. Believe me we were all surprised. Funny thing is I felt that I was but none of the test confirmed it. So go with your gut. And best of luck.

you can get pregnant immediately after removing the IUD. I would think that it can take a couple of months for your period to be "normal" again. it took 2-3 months for my period's to regulate and reduce flow when I got my IUD placed. Hang in there and keep trying! Also, try taking prenatal vitamins now before you get pregnant. It'll help get your body ready :). I took them for about 45 days before my husband and I started trying for our daughter. When we took out my NuvaRing, I was pregnant within 2-3 weeks!

Hi C., my husband and I are trying to conceive again as well and the last time we got pregnant we used ovulation-calendar.com and it worked very well. There is a free 45 day trial that will forecast your cycles for a few months (of course it won't help much if your cycles continue to be off). Anyway, it helped for us and we are hoping it will help again this time. Good luck!

I haven't had an IUD, but I had one shot of DEPO almost a year ago. It is effective for 3 months, but when it wore off, I did not have a period for 3 or 4 months. I have been bleeding/spotting every 2 or 3 weeks for the last few months.

After removing long-lasting birth control methods, it can take a long time to be regular, and it can take up to a year to become pregnant. Monitoring your cycle, even if it is irregular, is one of the best things to do if you want to get pregnant. As everyone else said, you may be pregnant.

By the way... the Dollar Store has pregnancy tests so you don't have to go broke as you anxiously test (I wish I knew that before I spent $15 per test on my other kids!) Also, don't forget to take a multivitamin (folic acid BEFORE you are pregnant is really important to for a healthy baby!) Good luck to all!

Hi C.. I had the IUD but only for about 6 months. I hate it removed in Sept. My husband & I have been trying to conceive as well. And my periods continue to be late each month. Once it was only about 10 days. Last month it was 34 days late. Still no baby though. I've asked my doctor about it, & she just kind of shrugs it off. (I'm considering searching for a new doctor!!)I wish you the best of luck though! I do think that you should talk to your doctor though, the one that took your IUD out.

I had the same brand IUD removed in July of last year and was pregnant in Sept. So we are due in 18 days. I was surprised at how soon afterwards it happened for us. You'll be fine, Good luck!
