Okay ladies,
I have been trying to conceive for a few months now with NO luck. I've tried laying elevated after love making and I have tried the little ovulation kit but it's a little tricky for me. I work the night shift therefore I'm working most nights and by the morning time which is the best time to use the ovulation kit my urine is not as potent as it would be if I had slept all night so I always get negative readings. I have also tried the basil body temp but pretty much same problem. My temp is always elevated in the morning since I'm just getting off work. If you have any ideas on how to help please share.

Get yourself a copy of the book...Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. I think its a MUST read for every woman.

Good luck!

The reason basal temp / urine tests are usually done in the morning is because most people have spent the night sleeping. In your case, you need to do these 'morning' tests whenever you've woken up from whenever you sleep. If you wake up in the afternoon, then that's when you do the tests.

Try reading the Taking Charge of Your Fertility book. It is based on Fertility Awareness (Basal Temp, and Cervical Fluid). Interestingly enough, the Basal Temp only shows you that you have ovulated after the fact. Your temp spike indicates that you have already ovulated and probably missed your window. The book explains the different stages of cervical fluid and how you are most fertile when it builds up to the stretchy egg white consistency. As gross as it is, you are most fertile when you notice long egg white like fluid hanging out of you when you go to the bathroom or when you notice it on the TP. Good luck. We're trying to get pregnant too and it's frustrating!

Monitoring your cervical secretions is the way to go! (You already have a child so I can assume you're beyond the point of being wierded out by bodily stuff!) As someone already mentioned it'll be egg-whitey, but here are the specifics. Before ovulation - dry, then sticky and cloudy. When ovulation is approaching it will begin to be clear, become more slippery and stretchy and increasingly have more volume. At first if you stretch it between your fingertips it will break, as time passes it will stretch longer & longer before it breaks. The best time to try to concieve is to wait until it stretches & doesn't break - now go! You will be ovulating any time & your best chances are w/in the next 12 hours after you notice this change. Worked like a charm for me! Try not to engage in any hanky panky before this & have your partner refrain from mastrabation.
Good luck

Like the previous poster, SM, the cervical fluid method worked for me both times. I knew exactly when I was ovulating and all you have to do is check your fluid each day, say after urinating. If you are still having problems after a couple months, maybe it's time to have your boyfriend checked. Good luck.

i think you are missing the point. it doesnt matter what time you do these tests it matters wat you were ust doing. so as soon as you wake up from when you slept not the rest of the world you take your temp. and when you first use the bathroom after waking. if you are a normal cycler (your cycles are the same amount of days each time) then it should be easy to guess whe you are fertile. its about 12-14 days BEFORE you start your period. so if you have 28 day cycles you ovulate on day 13-15. if you are a 34 cycle person it would be on day 19-21. good luck!

Not toatally sure, but I think you have to do the basal temp immediately upon waking, like when you are stil lying in bed?
