I'll try to make this as short as possible...bear with me...
My dissolution was final in Dec. 2006. My 4 and 8 year old live with me and their father sees them maybe once every month or two for a few hours. He calls them maybe once or twice a week and will occassionally promise to take them the following weekend to see a movie, go cmaping, have dinner, etc. He rarely shows up and doesn't apologize or even mention to them why he didn't follow through on his plans. I think my 8 yr. old is starting to accept this about his dad and he tends to enjoy the relationships he has with the other men in our lives-grandparents, friends, etc. He's really excited about having a male teacher this year. My 4 yr. old rarely mentions dad or when she does, it's to say she hates him or doesn't want to go with him. She also calls my dad her dad. My ex showed up at my house 2 weekends in a row (rt before Mother's Day) telling me he wanted to get our family back together and he loved me. I tried to just focus on the kids those days and we all did things together. 3 days before Mother's Day he called to tell me that he had found out that his on again off again girlfriend was pregnant and he guessed that he would move in with her or marry her because he couldn't abandon her. Hello-he has repeatedly abandoned us. I am now struggling with all of this emotionally and would love to see a therapist to work through everything. However, I am very low on money and don't have the best insurance. I have my own policy (not through work) so I know my rates will go up next year if I see a shrink on a regular basis and turn it into my insurance. Are there any free or really cheap (but good) therapy options out there??

What can I do next?

T., There are lots of therapists who work on sliding scales. The amount you pay them is based on your income. You can find a local therapist by searching online and then you can check to see if they work on sliding scales. If you live in Warren County, it should be no problem.
I applaud you for realizing that therapy would be a good thing! Good luck!

T., I'm sorry to hear about your situation. My church in Milford has counseling and I would recommend Richard Lehman. The website is: http://www.faithchurch.net/ and the phone number is ###-###-####. God bless you and your children.

Try Catholic Social Services. Or, if you have insurance see what is avaialable through your insurance. Stay strong, you will be able to overcome this and be in a better place, but therapy will certainly make it easier.
