I was just emailed by Geneva school district regarding 2 school closings in kane county due to 2 cases of swine flu. I am 36 weeks pregnant and have a 2,4 and 8 year old. Am I over reacting to consider taking my 8 yr old out of school??? This is so scary especially expecting a baby. One school that is closed is 10 min from my home. My kids are pretty healthy....it's just so scary expecting a baby and two little ones. The CDC says this is the a group with the highest risk along with people with immune issues and older people. I know I am hormonal, however once it's in the school the damage is done your child has been exposed!

What can I do next?

I personally dont think you are being "hormonal". I think you should keep your 8 year old home from school. Thats a little to close in distance & you are pregnant so I think that would be the wise choice for you & your son & new baby.

Better safe than sorry. Do what your heart (and Spirit) are telling you. Better to miss some schooling than to not have a child to send at all. xoxo

D., I am asking myself the same question. My daughter (K) goes to school with a sibling of a student at Marimon. I was so tempted not to let her go to school. I had a discussion with her about hygeine and staying away from any kid who seems sick. I told her to ask her teacher to set her at another table if someone at her table is sick or appears sick. She has started the habit of biting her nails and I am so afraid she'll get sick. I have a 1 and 3 year old at home. So I don't think it's your hormones, but mommy instinct.

Do what you think is best. However, are you willing to keep her out till you deliver? There is no way to tell if youe childs school will get a case of swine flu or not. I worry for my kids as well. One has allergies/asthma. I am going to have them take some supplements to boost theie immune system. Go to:
