Swim School in Orange County

I'm looking for recommendations on a swim school fin the Orange County area for my almost 2 year old little boy. I think I want to start him off with private lessons first, but dad will probably have to join since I don't think he'll let a stranger work with him at first.
Thanks!

What can I do next?

There are outdoor swim Lesson through the YMCA all summer - they have mommy/daddy and me where you can get in with the child until he can swim a bit on his own then he goes to the next level and swims with the instructor(s).

They also have these type of classes indoors at the Cerritos Olympic Swim Center (in Cerritos, CA) year around (they offer private, semi-private, and group classes) - check the city of cerritos website.

There are a few good swim schools in OC. Swim Venture has multiple locations. Waterworks Aquatics in Irvine and Blue Buoy in Tustin are also great places for lessons.

I have links to those and several other swim schools here: http://oc.citymommy.com/?q=place/view/term/24

I hope you find one you like!

We use australian swim school and enjoy it. My son is 17 months old. Www.australianswimschool.com
We tried waterworks in irvine and the facility is really nice but it didn't seem like we were making much progress with swim skills.
Both places have parent and me classes so you or your husband can get in the water to help ease him into it. Good luck!

We take our kids to Waterworks in Irvine. They are great and the pools are "indoors" so there is no worry about too much sun. Love the instructors. My oldest has used Julian and highly recommend.

One thing...try and get Dad to stay on the sidelines. They have a swim area that you can get into the water with them before and after their lessons, but during the lesson, best if Dad sits in the chairs and watches.

My kids have taken private swim lessons through Sunsational Swim School in Orange County. Their Instructors are great and come to you. My daughter is 3 years old and she has learned a great deal in the swimming lessons and also has a fun time!
Their website is

Good luck!
