My oldest has eczema and when she is in the sun it really flares up. I have tried numerous sunscreens but none of them help her. In fact certain sunscreens have made it worse. Please, if anyone out there knows of a good sunscreen for her PLEASE let me know. Thanks

Have you tried Mary Kay's sunscreen. I have a friend who cannot be in the sun without sunscreen and that other sunscreens bother her and don't feel nicely since she wears it all of the time. She uses Mary Kay's sunscreen and is very satisfied with it. If you're in San Antonio, I can help you out. Or find a consultant at Marykay.com. I don't know of anyone else with this problem, so I don't have any other suggestions. Sorry.

Kroger's organic section and HEB's organic section have sun products that might be suitable. You can also look at www.mercola.com for all natural sun protection.

Have you taken dairy from her diet, especially milk? That worked for us.

My daughter has eczema and I was told she would out grow it. Well, it kept getting worse and worse and finally a nutritionist told me eczema is an allergic reaction to something you just have to figure out what it is. We have finally found out she is allergic to "SOY" which is in everything vegetable oil is in (basically everything). Anyway, long story short since we have cut out the "soy" in her diet she has not had a flare up since!! Thought I would share this hoping it will help. Best of luck!

My son was born with Chronic Severe Eczema and it would get the worst when he was sick or in the heat. We took him to a dermatologist and was told to use Aveeno Baby SPF55 sunscreen at all times even when he was not in the sun. When he breaks out real bad I use a diaper rash ointment first. My son is three now and has been clear of out breaks for almost a year now. Also depending on how bad your child’s eczema is you may want to try using dove sensitive skin unscented soap with moisturizing cream at bath time for hair and body, and maybe even changing you laundry soap to something fragrance free. The key is to keep you child moisturized.

Please get her to a dermatologist ASAP. No child should have to suffer with eczema. There are numerous GOOD treatments available now to keep it maintained with a little diligence. The dermatologist will also be able to recommend the appropriate sunscreen. I imagine it will be a sunscreen with zinc oxide. My dermatologist says that Neutrogena makes the best sunscreen available at stores.

My son also has eczema though it it's clearing up now. The only one that's never made him flare up is Neutrogena Cooling Spray. However - I make him shower or wipe him with a sensitive baby wipe as soon as we get in from wherever we are. I also use J.A.S.O.N. fragrance free lotion many times a day to keep it at bay. When he was in full flare ups I practically bathed him in it.

I also feed him yogurt and add a probiotic to it daily.

Good luck!

My nephew's eczema is controlled by Aveeno products. They have some really good sunscreen products as well. I would also try a probiotic. If those didn't work, I'd consult with a dermatologist.

T.,
I have to tell you from experience (certain members in my family have eczema) that the sun is the worst possible thing for your oldest to be exposed to. Try to ensure that if she is out in the son, she has long sleeves on and/or pants (I don't know where the eczema is on her body). Just cover it up so the sun does not get to it.
If at all possible, please try and limit her sun exposure as much as possible. A dermatologist will tell you this too.
There are some creams out there that will help alleviate the irritation; however, they must be prescribed by a dermatologist. Seek a good one out now as she'll most likely be a life-long doctor for your family as long as your daughter has this skin disease.

My daughter has eczema and ANY perfumes or dyes or scents make her flare up. I would go to Whole Foods and get an organic one. Hope this helps!

The Eucerin skin products are great and they have a moisturizer with 30 spf sunscreen she could use possibly. Most dermatologist recommend the Eucerin line. Good luck.

Aveeno makes one. It's a bit on the expensive side and you may have to order it online to get it...but it should work out well. Other product I have used by them have been worth every penny extra I have spent!.

Good Luck... ;-)
