I bought one last year that goes on like a lotion, but when it dries it feels like powder. The bottle claimed that it was good for the beach since sand wouldn't stick to it. It really did work and I liked that all the dirt outside didn't stick to my children. I didn't even feel like I needed to wash off my hands right away either. It felt almost like it disappeared. It is called Banana Boat Dri Blok. It is yellow with a blue top.

Once you get it narrowed down to a few brands that have been suggested, go to this website: http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com. It tells you how safe a product is based on the chemicals in it. (You want low numbers.) I admit, the site is still a bit tricky for me to use, but it's also very interesting because you can search by brand, by type (ie. sunscreen) or by ingredient.

By the way, someone mentioned Badger sunscreen. I had decided to check it out since I knew this brand (and I like it). Looks like the Badger SPF 15 sunscreen rates as a 2* and the Badger SPF 30 (baby sunscreen) rates as a 0. I was surprised, but it looks like a good brand.

* 0-2 on this site is considered in the Low Hazard range.

I don't know how "wee" your children are, but for older kids, I really like the spray kinds of sunscreen. However, many of them are disgustingly greasy. From trial and error, our two favorite brands of spray are Neutrogena and Aveeno.

For faces, my kids like the sticks, although I think those can be pretty waxy/greasy. The Neutrogena lotion sunscreen that says "dry touch" or something like that on it is good. Once it soaks in, it does feel dry.

There is a sunscreen that is put out by Coppertone, I believe, that is a "dry" aerosol spray. Target and Sams Club sell it (If I remember right, the can is silver and purple). You can also get this in generic (which I found is just as good), but hard to find sometimes. When I do see the generic, I buy 6 - 8 bottles. I especially like this stuff for spraying the kids' scalps since it isn't greasy.

California baby makes a great one for infants. I now use Badger spf 15 sunblock for face and body and this is one of the BEST sunscreens. It goes on easy and it's got 12.5% zinc oxide, which is supposedly amazing. It's Chemical Free and I use it on all my girls (1,3,5). We had my daughter at an amusement park all day and she walked away without one tiny burn. I buy it at our local co-op. http://www.badgerbalm.com/pc-371-6-spf-15-for-face-body.aspx
Hope this helps!

One thing I have learned from my husband, who is a burn patient, is that you can still get burned with a sunscreen. So I would recommend finding one that says sunblock. We use the Banana Boat Ultra Mist Sunblock. It goes on easy and is not greasy at all. I use it everywhere but my 2 yr olds face. For that I use a no tears spray lotion. My guy would end up in tears from regular baby suscreens runing into his eyes as he was sweating. It's 2 different bottles, but it works really well for us. Happy hunting!

Earth's Best makes an all natural sunscreen (SPF 50, I think) that doesn't contain any of the harmful chemicals that the average name brands contain. It's more pasty than greasy and is available at Babies-r-us for sure and probaly elsewhere too. Hope this helps and good luck!

I have finally found a sunscreen for wee-ones that is pure, safe for baby's delicate skin, and effective! It is from Arbonne International (www.Arbonne.com) and is called ABC (Arbonne Baby Care). It has an SPF of 30+ and is TOTALLY NON-GREASY because it uses NO MINERAL OIL (which can't be absorbed into the skin and attracts the sun's rays!). It is the only baby skin-care on the market right now that doesn't use mineral oil in any of it's products. Arbonne has a whole baby skin care line that includes hair & body wash, body lotion, body oil (uses certified organic botanical oils), a diaper rash cream (which is also great for eczema and poison ivy/oak, and sunscreen. It's called Arbonne Baby Care (ABC).

I'm a 50 yr old mother of 4 boys (21, 19, 18, 14) and I wish I had known about this company when my kids were younger; but it's never too late once you find something this good. Check out my mom-owned home business listed for more information.

Avon has some great sunscreen that is not greasy. There is a blue colored one that you can tell if you have missed any areas. They also have the sunscreen with bug protection in it.
Contact your local Avon Rep or I would be happy to help you. If interested I can give you my E-Store addy.

It is expensive... but it works GREAT and I would not have believed it unless I tried it myself. It is colorscience's brush on powder sunscreen (in clear, as they make different shades for your skin tone if you use on face.) I use on both my kids and I thought that a powder could not be waterproof ... but it is... it is great and really lasts. I have had my son's tube for 2 years now. http://www.colorescience.com/1280x1024/flash/index.html
I know you can buy at the spa south of Bayshore Mall called La'image(spelling?) on port washington.

Arbonne. It's not greasy and it doesn't have the stench that other sunscreens have. :-)

Arbonne makes a great sunscreen for babies and kids. It's non greasy, and doesn't contain mineral oil or any animal by-products so you know what you're putting on your little one is pure and safe. It retails for $22, but you can get it for 35-80% off. Let me know if you'd like a sample to try, or are interested in getting it. You can check it out at www.arbonne.com.

dri-block in a yellow bottle with a blue lid...It is actually hard to tell where you put it because it leaves your skin feeling normal instead of greasy. I use it now for myself too-lol! I think it is made by coppertone?!?!
