Stroller - Stoughton,WI

I have not been able to sleep lately trying to make a decision. Should I buy a BOB double stroller? I live in a rural area and have two kids aged 2 and 4 1/2. I used to stroll them in a Burley solo but it was getting cramped and finally broke. I like going long distances especially after being cooped up all winter. I own a graco duo glider but it doesn''t stroll well on uneven terrain and is plain unsafe because we have no sidewalks in our area. My main worries are 1. My oldest will not need a stroller much longer and 2. The BOB is a little wide and may not be that safe for that reason. Any ideas? I know I should have purchased the BOB years ago and want to finally treat myself right.

Thanks :)

What can I do next?

If you can afford it, definitely buy it. After a lot of research into double joggers, this seems to be the best. Or at least up there with just a few others. I have a Baby Trend (cheapo) and while it works, I know the BOB has to be a million times better.

If you can afford it, buy it. I love our double. If you are an REI member you can get 20% off of a purchase until April 20 (i think??). That's about $100 off. That's what we did years ago and it was sooo worth it. Good luck either way!

I highly recommend you look into a Phil and Ted double stroller! It is AWESOME! The kids sit tandum so the stroller is no wider than a single stroller! It was the best money I have ever spent.

The double BOB is FABULOUS!!!! I've been using mine for almost 2 years now. My oldest -just turned 4 -usually doesn't get in it, but it's nice to have that option when we're out on long walks. It's also fantastic to have to haul stuff in (put in the empty seat) while your oldest walks to the beach, playground, etc. It's incredibly balanced and I don't see how it couldn't be really safe. I highly endorse it -and it goes easily over most terrain.

Hi. I live in a rural area and take my kids on walks on gravel roads. I have a BOB double stroller. It is very rugged and handles rough terrain very well. It will hold an 8 year old and a 5 year old with a 2 year old sister on one of their laps. Very heavy duty. I have not found it to be unstable. The wideness is only a problem getting it in and out of doors. It is a nightmare to use in a busy city. We took it to Chicago and my husband was ready to burn it because he was so frustrated with having to pick it up and angle it to try to get it through doors. But for use in wide open spaces, it is great!

Why not look into the Jeep brand double jogger strollers? They are less expensive, and work wonderfully. I have been checking out double joggers for my twins (15m) for awhile now, and though I like the BOB stroller, it is really expensive, and like you said, a bit wide. I am actually in the process of convincing my husband to let me buy a double jogger, and am going with the Jeep brand. I just have to have my rummage sale first (according to him)!

Good luck to you!

Buy the BOB. You will not be sorry that you did! Keep it in good shape, and you can probably resell it and get some of your investment back when you're done with it. My kids prefer the side-by-side, because they can both see well, and the sun shades are separate so they have them as they like. Also there a pockets the kids can put their drinks, or junk in. I use mine on the trails, and in the woods, up and down hills - it is truly all-terrain - and its really easy to push. You're going to LOVE your BOB!

My vote is go for the BOB. After buying two other strollers, we bought a BOB single when my daughter was a year old. Two years later it is the only stroller we use and the only one she will still get into. My friend has a double BOB and it has amazing glide as long as the wheels are inflated at the proper level. The BOB will give your body the ergonomic advantage of having your hands up versus down with the Burley, so steering for two will be a lot easier. For my friends who are having their first baby I tell them don't waste your time with a plastic stroller. Go straight to the BOB with the baby carrier adapter. The inflatable wheels, shock absorption system and durability make a huge difference. The ease and comfort for your body and your children's bodies (on rural or city roads) will be a far cry from the Burley. The rain shield is great for getting out on dreary wet days too! We also got the faux-shearling seat liner for frigid Minnesota winter walks. For modern parents it is the difference between the covered-wagon and a luxury automobile. Go for it!!

Have you looked at the Schwinn double jogger with a swivel wheel? I own this stroller and LOVE it. It's cheaper than a BOB, but with great features such as removable seat inserts, a large basket underneath, an excellent sun canopy, and a plastic rain fly that zips up into the canopy. My very tall 6-year-old still rides in it with ease -- even with the sun canopy up. It's easy to push. I've put hundreds of miles on it in the 2 years we've owned it.

I have two children 17 months apart (2 1/2 and 12 months) and our sit and stand stroller has been a true life saver for us! We now have a much lighter umbrella stroller that my 2 1/2 year old son likes to push, but it is very nice to have the option where I can keep him contained and he can sit if he gets tired. www.onestepahead.com has strollers with heavier duty wheels so you might check them out since you will be on rougher terrain with it.

We have the Bob that stacks them on top of each other- it is awesome- it is the width of a single stroller but so ruggid and versatile. It was an investment for our family- but I believe in buying the best the first time instead of spending as much on multiple strollers trying to get to what we want. My son still rides on the front when he gets too tired to walk.

Go for it. I have twin 3-year-olds and will be using mine for years to come. I. LOVE. IT.

I also live out of town and take it to the walking paths in town as well as camping. I've taken it out in the pasture and girls did great!
