Stretch Marks Are Still There?

I am a first time mom, just had a baby 2 months ago, and my stretch marks are still visable. I have rubbed creams on the areas and some have faded and some not. When will the stretch marks go away? after a yr? or do they go away? will I have to have them removed by a dermatologist or something? They are on my tummy, sides and upper legs.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanx ladies, I am in denial that the stretch marks are permanent, I'll still rub the palmers cream on and such and will have to just live with them. poo! If I find a "cure" for stretch marks, I will spread the word!

I tried Strivectin (sp?) on my belly and at first thought it was making a big difference, but when I ran out they still show. I just use a good lotion now--something with cocoa butter and/or vitamin E is good--to minimize the appearance. Something like Palmer's cream can make the skin look plumper--but it usually helps more to prevent them than to treat. Also, I've heard that Retin-A lotions can help.

I have them on my upper hips from when I got my "womanly" figure in jr. high and they are now flesh colored and shiny, like a scar. It's better than bright purple, but still visable.

If you find a cure--please let the rest of us know! I've heard there is a new laser than can make them look much better, but don't know much about it.

stretch marks pretty much are always there.

They recommend putting it on when you are growing. But a dermatolgist had my sister use Vitamin E. You pop them and put the goo straight on the mark.

Oh wow. Honey, I still have them. I don't think there is anything you can really do for them to "go away". I've heard that some of the creams will make the color of them fade. Mine are here to stay!! Good luck!

Hi M.:

Stretch marks never go away fully unless you have a tummy tuck.

I only gained 25 lbs with my son and I was small to begin with, almost as small as I am now (110#), so from my belly button down looked like a road map. My son is 15 years old and the scars are still there, but the redness went away after about 6 months or so after giving birth. Don't worry, they will lighten up to a light shiny flesh color, but will never fully go away.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
