Ok ladies, I really need some advice. Um, my husband and I are taking a week getaway without the kids to Puerta Vallarta 4ht of July week. Well, according to my menstrual cycle pattern I am supposed to be on my period that week. I CAN'T BE ON MY PERIOD! Is there anything in the world I can do to skip it, delay it, something? I am desperate here. I will do anything out there except get pregnant to stop my period for that week. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

OH, and I am not on the pill. I have a non hormonal IUD.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Went to the Doctor today. He gave me birth control pills to start right now. This should delay my period til after the trip. If I spot during original period date, he told me to up my dosage to 2 pills a day. This should work. Thanks ladies for all your input. It helped.

I went thru the same thing last year for my honeymoon. I also had the same iud. I started using the nuva ring and it just made me spot every day. when i finally called the doc maybe a week before my honeymoon, she prescribed me an additional birth control pill to take with the ring, and i think that for the few blood free days i might have had, the hormones flooding my system made me even more miserable. i would consider getting those menstruation cups, it works like a diaphragm and collects fluid inside of your body for up to 12 hours. it takes practice using and is too messy to change in a public bathroom, but it will keep you blood free during intercourse if you insert it properly. your hubby will probably feel it too. OR you could get an actual diaphragm and use it instead. i wouldn't mess with the hoemones, i think that in conjunction with the iud, it makes it worse, my obgyn told me that after my experience she probably won't give the ring to any more patients with an iud. good luck.- lace

The only thing I have heard of is if you are on birth control to just skip the white pills and keep on with the next pack. That way you trick your body and skip the period. I would call and ask the nurse practitioner or Dr. on this before I did it though.

There are some birth control pills that stop your period, but you would have to talk to your doctor about what they are and how quickly they begin to adjust your cycle.

if you are on the pill you just continue to take them starting with the next months package.
