Stitching After C-section

I had my second c-section four weeks ago and have been feeling a dull ache around the scar (I don't remember feeling this with my first baby). Today I looked at the scar and am able to see a stitch with a tiny hole!?! I am going to call my doctor tomorrow to get it looked at, but am freaking out right now! There is no blood or ooze, just a stitch and a tiny hole all the way at the end of the scar on one side. Has anyone experience this before?

What can I do next?

I had the same thing after my 3rd one. It wasn't bleeding or whatever. I had to go in a couple days to get my staples remove,he seen it but didn't say anything. He told me everything heal up good. I had that hole for a few weeks but I guess it disappeared or heal up. I never had any problems. Just to be on the safe side I would still call up and see rather they want you to come in or not.

As long as there isn't any blood or puss, it should be fine. I had surgery on my nipples about 12 years ago. The stitches that were supposed to dissolve inside my body decided to work their way out. To this day, I have a stitch hole. It just healed that way.

As for scars, they can be sensitive/ache for a long time. 4 weeks is still recent!

I had a little thread sticking out too. They didn't think it was a big deal...I think I eventually tugged it gently and it came out. LMAO...I worried my whole area would undo....but i can assure you it didn't. I also had to have my husband help me when my butterfly stitches were falling off. I literally almost passed out bc I was so anixious when he was doing it. He had to do it several times bc they all start coming off at diff times.

Oh btw...I'm a nurse. Guess its a whole diff ballgame when it is happening to your body!

I have experienced it before twice with both of my c sections. The first time time I had a hole the size if a small pea. Then after the first day, the dull ache started to sting and I after sitting down, blood would literally drip out of it when I stood up. I apologize for the graphic detail but I completely understand your freaking out. Let your doctor know about it and he/she will determine if it is cause for concern. Mine was due to a small amount of blood that had been trapped under the skin and the pressure had caused the ache. It was looking for a release and found it via the stich. It wasn't serious just bothersome and it happens quite often.

I would just go to the doctor and check. Doesn't sound too bad. I remember with my c-section, I didn't listen and started cleaning around the house and picking things up. I actually split my stitches open. The smell was awful! I had to keep cleaning the area often. The doctor had to burn the wound closed with some kind of long match stick thing. She said "you will feel a pinch". Ha! Is all I have to say about that! LOL!!!

yep, with my first son on my right side it took longer to heal and one of my stitches came out and there was a little hole, it healed up just fine, no infection or meds needed. with my twins, i had a c-section also and it was pretty much the same, except i had staples which they took out on day 3. the right side in the same spot took a lot longer to heal. i would check with your OB like you said just to be sure.

I also had my second c-section recently and this happened to me. My OB pulled the stitch out (it hurt) but that helped get the swelling and pain to subside. However, when the swelling went down, I discovered more stitches (they were supposed to dissolve but didn't). I didn't want to go back to have them removed again so I waited. I made sure to wash the area thoroughly and after my shower I would gently rub the area with my towel. Eventually they came out on their own. I, too, was freaked out but I can tell you from experience that it was nothing terrible. I had just been hoping that things would heal up a lot easier than they did. Good luck!

I just had my second c-section 3 months ago and also experienced this. I had my staples removed and one section was still "open". My OB said it was fine, the the inside was secure and healed, but the outside was going to take longer. He put on Sterile strips and a couple of weeks later all was well. I freaked out too! Try to relax and it will be fine! Good luck!
