Spring Forward This Sunday Morning...

For those of us who have to spring forward an hour on Sunday morning, how do you deal with losing an hour of sleep? Do you go to bed an hour earlier than usual, or do sleep in an hour longer? How do your kids handle the time change? Do you put the kids down an hour earlier than usual to avoid the loss of sleep? I personally hate time changes because it makes my kids very crabby for about a week. It literally takes a week to adjust in the fall and in the spring. This year I'm blessed with it happening over Spring Break week so hopefully my kids will be back in the groove by the time school starts back up!

What can I do next?

It tends to throw my body rhythm off much more than the kids. But I must say I am really looking forward to it being bright and sunny out later in the day. I find it depressing when it gets dark so early. It always feels sad when it is too dusky or dark to let the kids go out to play after they get home from school. We all sing: Here comes the sun and I say it's all right.

I just wake up whenever my son wakes up (at sunrise, so i am HAPPY about this coming time change, as instead of waking us up at 7am, he'll sleep until 8am!) I'm not sure if he'll want to nap at 1 or 2, but we'll see. So to answer your question - there's no plan. We just go with the flow and see what happens with the time change. All I know is that my son wakes up at sunrise, so I will be happy to get an extra hour sleep.

i guess we are very blessed, none of us really notice it too much. i might put him down 30 minutes earlier if i think of it. but sundays are always a good nap day too, so if we need it, we take one.

We try and go to bed a bit earlier. I don't mind fall changes, but the spring forward is really difficult!

We don't even talk about it. Life just goes on as usual. Up until now it has never been an issue in my family. Bed time remains the same.

I start a while before putting the kids down earlier. They usually go to bed at 9pm. This week I have been trying to get them in their rooms by 8:30 already in jammies. They don't even know it's different since it's still dark. By the time the change happens they'll be fine with it.

Never an issue in my house. I was lucky and had very easy going, flexible
kids. Possibly in the fall, they got up a bit earlier the first few days but
nothing that stands out in my mind.

spring forward is easier than fall back.. (at least for my young kids) I will try to get them to bed a bit earlier tonight.. and even a bit earlier tomorrow... maybe 15 minutes earlier tonight.. and another 15 minutes earlier tomorrow..so that will be 30 minutes of the 60 they are loosing. they get up early.. so if they sleep in a bit bwecause we changed the clocks.. I will be fine with that... in the fall.. when the time changes.. they get up super early for at least a week..

I will TRY to put the boys to bed early. We have to be at Mass at 8:30, so we will all be getting up early either way. Hopefully my 3 year old will be ready for an early nap and my oldest will want some downtown. Either way, I will probably be tired. Wish I could take a nap!
