I would like to know if anyone has every had a Abnormal umbilical cord pregnancy?? I am 6 months and soon to be 1 week. And the doctor told me when I had my ultra-sound that the baby only has 2 cords instead of three. I went on the internet and read about it. But I started to cry when I read it. B/c there might be something wrong with the baby. But the doctor said that everything was good that i had nothing to worry about. And also I am 3 times the size I should be?? So, on sunday when I turn 25 weeks, I will be the size of a 28 weeks. Could something be wrong??? Scared to death!!!!!

What can I do next?

I would not get too worked up over what you see on the internet. Your Doctor would know if something is really wrong. As for how big you are , it is your 3rd child. I have 4 kids, when I was pregnant with my 3rd, I was "HUGE" Doctor checked me for twins and everything, but it was just cuz i had already had 2 kids before and the fact that I was pregnant with another girl, you tend to be bigger with girls for some reason, or I did anyways. I had 3 girls and one boy. My pregnancies with the girls, I was seriously huge!!! I hope that helps ya out.

My best friend had the 2 cords instead of 3 with her second child and he is just fine. I would not get overly emotional about anything you read on the internet. Your doc would tell you if everything was not ok. The fact that you are 3 weeks bigger than you should be could be anything from you having your dates wrong to there just being extra amniotic fluid around the baby. I was really big, really early with my son and they did ultrasounds and everything to figure out why but nothing conclusive showed up, he's fine. My advice would be don't worry unless your doctor gives you reason to worry. Even then, worry only makes things worse, stay calm, talk to your baby, love it and it will all turn out ok.

I think you are probably reacting in a normal way i would be concerned also b/c we are always afraid of something that we have no control of. but i really think you and the baby will be alright b/c if something was seriously wrong the doctors would either have you on bed rest and he would not lead you to think everything is fine. i am a mother and i understand the worries we can put on our selves but try to relax and take your docs advice. Maybe you should start going on short walks in the evening you would be surprised how much that relieves stress, but only if its okay with your doc.

Hey C.
First of all always i mean always trust your OB he/she knows what is best and true of your baby.
Second, don't i repeat don't depend on what some of these websites say about pregnancy. Most of them are not even from Dr.s it is just people that have been pregnant. Only go to sites and trust the ones that are dependable. But back to above always trust in what your OB tells you.
As far as the weight gain you may be gestational diabetic or maybe your hormones are just over active and you are gaining more wieght than usual.
If you are really concerned about the baby talk to your Dr. they can be very reassuring . Ask them to tell you of the possible risk of the umbilical cord situation.
Good luck and hugs to you hun.

Hi. A very close friend of mine had the same situation. It was her 3rd pregnancy and she found out there were 2 instead of 3 cords. As long as your baby is growing fine and your dr doesnt see anything to be alarmed about you will be fine. They will probably take extra precautions just to make sure. The only complication my friend had was she (the baby) wasnt growing but it doesnt seem you are having that problem. Did they find this on a routine ultrasound??

I would listen to your doctor. If he's not worried, you shouldn't be either. Your large measurement may mean the baby is big. Check out babycenter.com....they have a lot of great information.

C.,
If the Dr says you are fine then you are fine, dont read into it any more than you have too. Put it in Gods hands. I know you are scared but think of the positive. And with the size, have you been checked for gestational diabetes yet? This usually causes the baby to be large.... If it is not gestational diabes then you have a healthy baby......
