Six Months Pregnant W/ Restless Legs. . .

I have had Restless Leg Syndrome for many years and was on medication for it before finding out about my "surprise"! Now that I am pregnant I cannot take the medication. For the first 5 months, it was managable, but now it seems to be worse than ever. I am sooooo tired all of the time and it may take me 2+ hours to fall asleep due to the creepy, crawly feelings in my legs. I already go to bed at 8pm (alarm goes off at 4am for work) so I don't think I can really turn in much earlier. I take the appropriate measures that all my doctors have suggested: exercise regularly, no caffiene, no smoking, eat right, etc. I just wondered if anyone else has been through this with pregnancy and how you have found relief. ANYTHING would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
Meg

I would take a Tylenol 3 (perscription only--from my OB)and it would help me relax and go to sleep. It is the only thing that helped me. I had RLS during pregnancy and it was really annoying. I hope you get some relief soon.

My husband has RLS. If he snacks in the evening before bedtime (especially sweets), his RLS really acts up. I found a website that discusses calcium, potassium and magnesium supplementation that might be beneficial to you. http://www.mothernature.com/Library/Bookshelf/Books/23/12...

Ask your doctor if you can take melatonin or drink camomile tea before bedtime?

I had the same problem in the later stage of pregnancy. My OB recommended Potassium supplements and it worked wonders. My RLS improved greatly and sleeping through the night was much easier.

Hello - I had the same problem and found taking a shower/bath and the going straight to bed helped a lot. Also taking calcium supplements. Hang in there; I know it's no fun!

Hi M.,

I am a massage therapist and I have a few clients with restless leg syndrome who have good success with MonaVie Acai juice blend, which is an all natural alternative to medication. But more importantly, I have a couple friends who drink, or are drinking the juice though thier pregnancies and have said it has made the pregnancy soo very easy and comfortable.

MonaVie is a high quality juice blend made from Acai berry and 18 other fruits from around the world. The MonaVie formula provides a convenient and the most effective way to retain the essential super-antioxidants and phytonutrients needed to help reduce free radicals and inflammation in the body. Fruits and vegetables contain essential vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fiber that may also help protect from chronic diseases.

The juice has helped people with joint/muscle pain, sleeping issues, low energy levels, digestive issues and much much more.... For me, as a mother of 3, I had issues with all of those things during my pregnancy and wish I had known about Monavie before I started having children.

Please check out www.thegreatproduct.com/scoggin or shoot me an email and i would love to tell you more about MonaVie.

I wish you the best with your pregnancy!

I've gone thru it w/ several pgs. I never found anything that gave me relief. I tried taking benadryl to maybe help me sleep, but nope. Occassionally I'd get some sleep, but it seemed to come after I became totally exhausted.

Unfortunately, I think really your only cure, is delivery.

I had the same issues near the end of my pregnancy....it was like the minute I laid down it would hit. I put a heating pad underneath my legs and would rotate between each leg and then I would rotate my ankles around and my boyfriend would rub lotion on my legs.I also found if I laid on my sides with a pillow underneath my leg and then between my legs, that worked too..most of the time those things worked, but, I know the pain you are in ...UGH!
