Hi Moms,

I am 25 weeks along with my third child. A few weeks back I developed a horrible never ending cough and after two weeks got an antibiotic from the OB for sinus infection. During that time my ribs/diaphram began to really hurt from all of the coughing..Pretty typical I know. The coughing has improved so I am not coughing all the time....But I have to tell you my sides of my ribcage hurt which radiates to my back... I know I am getting bigger so it is to be expected to get those few extra aches and pains to...Has anyone experienced this pain?? The muscle spasms/cramping and tightness? I tend to get the most relief reclining back in a chair or lying down...but we mothers know that we can't do that all the time with all the work we have to do. I can't for the last three months be in bed all day! Any recommendations on how to deal with it? I do plan on calling the chiropractor but don't know what can be done.

Good idea to call your chiropractor. I've had pain that sounds like yours at times, and my rib was actually out of alignment and poking me. It hurts something awful! I hope your chiropractor was able to help. If you need a suggestion for one that works well with pregnant women, check Dr. Sean Manning in Oak Park- www.WellAdjustedWorld.com. Love him!

It could just be that you are tender from coughing so hard and long. But, since I have been pregnant I have had three, what I believe are gallbladder attacks. When I have the attack I feel like I am having a heart attack, it hurts soooo bad throughtout my chest and back. Then since the last one, (this last Monday) my right side hurts and is tender to the touch, under my rib cage. Go to the doctor and bring this issue up, I go tommorrow, so I shall see what he will do, hopefully he will do an ultrasound and see if I have stones.
Good luck and get a second opinion if the Dr. blows you off!

Call your OB - they're used to this sort of thing (phone calls for various issues). They'll likely be able to help you with this.

oooo i remember that rib pain. i always assumed it was a foot caught in there. I read some place to raise the arm on the side it hurts and cough. don't want to make your cough worse though!
