We are looking to rip out the ugly white shower stall that came with the house. We aren't sure which material to replace it with, where to buy it, and who to have complete the installation. Are tile showers terrible to keep clean? Do the tiles crack?
Please tell me all you know and thanks!
Home Depot (and I think Lowe's) sells everything, and also does installation. They should be able to help with what exactly you want.

We have a porous tile (same tile that is used on our bathroom floor) and we like it. We have a large glass door in between 2 smaller sections of glass.
The last person out of the shower uses the squeegee on the glass and wipes down the entire shower. My cleaning routine consist of regular comet or bleach on the the shower floor. I clean the glass with vinegar.
I have no idea who might install such but you asked for types of showers and the views on them.

Don't really know, but I've seen commercials for the tub/showers that have the doors built in for people that have trouble climbing into tubs. They look pretty attractive, and if you have grandparents that are over a lot, that might be a good thing if it's in a guest room area. Good luck with the renovation! :)
you can do tile or you can do a cultured marble.
Each just has different looks. I find the marble easier to clean but, the tiles are just as easy.
Grout is the hard thing to clean so you just have to make sure there is plenty of venting to get the moisture out.
we put cultured marble in when we did a new bath.
They measured and put in a solid floor, which was the most important thing to me, the walls, soap/shampoo holders combo, shelf and a corner seat, plus a vanity sink top. It was about $1200 3x4 ft
We have tiles in the shower and tub and I like the tile as well. We plan on redoing the master shower with tiles for a different look but, I think I will have them put in a solid floor.
