Hello Moms!

My 3 yr old has always had his shots. But I have been wondering if I did the right thing with all the controversy surronding the shots. So I am nervous this time around. as Mommy's we always want what is best for our kids. You think if I give my son the shots is he going to be okay if I dont give him the shots is he going to be okay??????? Its very hard to know what is best. My first chid is fine but there is always that chance that the 2nd one could have issuse with it. we go tomorrow for his first set I did not get his first set at 2 months that is just way too early. any ADVICE WILL HELP!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well, Moms thanks for your advice. I talked with my doctor today and she said if I didnt want to give my son his shot she stood behind me but she also made me aware of all pro's and con's and the pro's FAR out weigh the con's. I did get 2 today, My doctor has 4 kids and she told me today that she has seen way too many kids/babies die from Streptococcus pneumoniae so that is why she gets her childrens vaccines. I just look at it this way. I place my children the precious gift that God gave to me/us in his hands and pray that he will allow me to make the best choices for my children. S.

I think alot of us are in the same boat. We are just confused and scared. I would suggest postponing them or at least spreading the shots out by just doing one at a time instead of the 3 or 4 they have you do at one time. At least it would give you more time to do some more of your own research on it and maybe help make a better decision on what you want to do. Whatever you decide, stick your ground and do and what you think is best. There are alot of uneducated opinions and alot of research, but only you can decide what you think is best for you and your family.

Read Dr. Sears Vaccination book. It explains the shots. He is not anti vaccine, he just wants a different schedule.

Read as much as you can and discuss with your ped.

Good Luck.

We were hesitant too. We compromised at giving our kids shots but only one at a time. We space them one week apart. I think the combination of shots is too much for a little body. One week gives them a change to adjust.

After the shot we are sure to not go in public places for a couple of days as to not have the weakend immune system to pick anything up.

Our Dr. office supports me having them get all the shots but also that we are taking authority. We are the parents, we decide what goes in our kids and who they play with.

We also ask to see the vile before they put it in the needle. One small mistake could be a big problem later.

I choose not to get my child shots.... at least until after two and I will only do certain shots and only one at a time. My son is 12 months SUPER healthy and goes everywhere with us!

Use your mommy instinct and dont be bullyed by your pediatrician - they make big bucks from the drug companies.

If you are concerned about vaccines.. you need to do some reading and researching.. but if your appt is tomorrow you dont have much time to do any research
I did not do vaccines at 2 months but did them at 4 months.

but you certainly dont have to do all the shots..

you can spread them out - aske the dr which ones are the most important to get right now..
