Sharpie to Clothes - Any Secrets to Remove

Hairspray!!!! It might work but since you washed it already maybe not. but it works most of the time. My daughter has found a sharpie where we never knew there was one, more than once. Good luck!

WD40, I heard works for almost anything? I don't know because I have never actually used it on clothes, but I remember someone saying that it works for everything. I'd give it a try. Good Luck!

Purell hand sanitizer. I don't know why it works, but it does. My daughter wrote on the fabric seats of my husbands car with a sharpie, and it took it out with out any damage to the fabric.

You may be out of luck. Sharpies are meant to be permanent!! You could try waterless hand cleaner- you get it in the car sections at Walmart- brand named GOOP. Your best bet is a strategically place iron on patch. They make some very cute ones now!!!

Try using Goo-gone. It takes out many ink stains along with gum or sticker residue.

I used Amodex on my carpet when my 2 year old got his hands on a Sharpie. It worked well but it says not to try to get the stain out prior to using this product, not sure if that really matters. I bought it at Stop & Shop, but if you look online www.amodexink.com it is available many places. Good luck.

Hi C., I have never actually tried to remove "Sharpie" marks; but Shaklee's Nature Bright is awesome at removing even old stains. Where do you live? I am in Georgetown and would be happy to give you some free of charge to try on these marks. It is a non-toxic laundry booster that you mix with warm water and soak the outfit in for a few hours. I've been having a lot of luck using Spray n Wash with Resolve. It's gotten out marker and crayon from bedspreads...maybe it will help with the sharpie? That's a tough one - good luck!

I doubt it - Sharpies are used like laundry markers to label kids' clothes when they go to camp, so it's pretty permanent. Find a friend who is an artist and turn the marks into a design! And have your mom pay for it! ;-) LOL

My daughter wrote with a Sharpie in my husbands new car all over the leather seats, the cloth ceiling cover and the DVD video screen. He looked it up on the Internet and the Sharpie company recommended using brake fluid. It worked like magic. Even on the delicate video screen. I'd give it a try on the dress, but since you've already washed it, it may not have the same affect. Worth a try, though. Good luck.

Not sure if this will help (though I love the ladybug idea!), but anyway, my 3 y/o neice, got black sharpie and herself and a bar of Lava (pumice) soap, removed the marks lickedy split!! Maybe it would work on the outfit?? good luck!

I don't know how it would work on clothing, however, I have gotten sharpie off of my kitchen counter very easily with a "magic eraser" worth a try I guess. Hope it works for you! Have a great day!

Sharpies are permanent arent they? The only thing I can think of that I use to get ink out is hair spray. Try to put some on it and let it set then wash it out.

I've never tried it on fabric but I know rubbing alcohol removes Sharpie on other surfaces. Good luck!

I suggest using rubbing achohol with a cotton swab. After you are finished, re-wash the outfit.

How about getting a couple small tubes of fabric paint and make flowers, ladybugs or butterflys over the sharpie marks???? I've done it and my daughter says I saved her favorite outfit (from chocolate pudding dribble)

sharpie ink is soluble in ethanol. try to find some 100% (or close) ethanol - maybe ask the pharmacist. Methanol might work too. be careful with methanol because it's very bad for you - wear rubber gloves and use proper ventilation.

these other responses people have posted that work likely pertain to things with a lot of ethanol in them.

This happened to me and I looked it up on the internet. The only thing out there is the Amodex another mom recommended. Unfortunately for me I had already tried to get the stain out in otherways and while the amodex "lightened" the stain it did not entirely remove it. Sad to say it may be ruined. My sharpies now live way up high in a cabinet where they can not easily be reached!

Maybe Ecover Ecological Stain remover would work. I haven't tried it but everyone swears by it in customer reviews, saying that it works better than the toxic stain removers. Great for kids clothes, it has no toxic chemicals like others. Drugstore.com sells it.

Try the hairspray. Any kind will do. I have used it on furniture and clothes with great results. The only thing I am not sure about is the initial washing. That may have "set" the stain in....Good luck!

I hate to say it but I think you are stuck with the stains. Sharpie is permanent...HAve you tried a tide pen?

hairsparay works best and or alcohol dab, dab, dab...i find that a little pour with the alcohol over and over and over till it disapears is the only way it will work with a towell/paper towell under stain took me a good 10 times of this the other day on a white tee (i didnt have hairspray) fun stuff :)

a friend told me that baby oil gets it off skin..maybe it would work on fabric too? there is something in baby oil that breaks down the ink..it would be a worth a try....

and I would tell your mom that the Crayola washable markers are better for 3 year olds....lol. my mom does some funny things too!
