HEY Wonderful Mammas! My daughter was just diagnosed as having mild Scoliosis. The doctor suggested we enroll her in Yoga classes. Do any of you wonderful ladies have any great suggestions on where to enroll her? I don't want anybody push about holistics or numerology kinds of stuff. Just a normal everyday, friendly functional Yoga class. A reasonable price would be great, too. We live near Power and Williamsfield, and anything in the Queen Creek, Higley or Gilbert area would be great! Thanks all!

So What Happened?

I've gotten some wonderful responses, and will be checking out several of them. My daughter is very positive about Yoga, especially since it was also recommended as a stress reducer for her Epilepsy as well. Thanks Mammas! You're the best!!

Dear K.,

I have a private yoga instructor that is excellent and very reasonable. She is also a massage therapist, so very in-tune with the muscular structure and can tailor the practice to your daughter's individual needs. My instructor is Angela Fears, and she owns Angel Star Massage and Health; you can contact her at 866-846-1265. She has an office at Val Vista and Williams Field, but also holds classes at various yoga studios.

Good luck!

Regards,
T.

Hi K. - Ive never heard that - is it so she can use isometric muscles to push and straighten the curve? I had Scoliosis and had a brace and surgery almost 30 yrs ago and my 5 yr old just got a brace but they are so much better now - Her doctor is Dr White in Phx and he's Very good - I was able to change my curve greatly with isometrics but not enough - but it is a conscious effort. Is the Yoga instead of surgery - at 16 she maybe done growing - just wondering and pls email me if I can help in any way or be a resource - does she have Marfan's syndrome at all - did they mention- is she very tall and thin build ? I am in Gilbert and good luck and hope I can help if possible :) S. :)
