I am moving to the Dallas area in mid-August to attend Parker College of Chiropractic and have yet to find a daycare or preschool that is affordable. My daughter is 3 yrs. 8 months old and very bright. My husband & I don't have a great deal of money for daycare. Most of the schools I have found on the net are $10,000 plus per year. Any suggestions welcome.

If you are really looking for good structure and education I would suggest Montessori Episcopal School in Lewisville. I looked at several of the other suggested schools in my search, but as an educator myself; I found this school to have the best staff and philosophies in the area. The Montessori classrooms there are specifically designed around the learning minds of young children. Most of the staff and teachers have been there for several years and have a great Christian outlook on education for young children. I can't say enough about the staff, they make you and your children feel like part of a family. I guess the best thing I can say is that I trust them with my 3 year old son and I am proud to be part of their family. I would recommend them to anyone who really wanted the best care and well rounded education for their children. You can call the school at ###-###-#### their summer hours are 8am-12pm. I hope you look into this great school.

As a side note I would not recommend Flower Mound Montessori School. While the facilities look impressive the care and education is more like a daycare than a school. The staff is in a constant turn over; my son had so many different teachers I could hardly keep up with their names. The afternoon care is mostly young high school age girls. The communication from the staff about accidents and issues is horrible.

Hi K.,
Not sure where you will be in North Dallas, but try Happy Tree Child Development center in Carrollton. They are at Midway and Trinity Mills. We pay around 160.00 per week for our 3 year old.

Hi, K.. I'm not acquainted with where Parker College is located or if my suggestion will even be conveniently located for you.

My 4 year old attends The Shepherd's School at 3814 Swiss Avenue near Baylor Hospital. They are small but loving and clean. My daughter used to attend Dallas Day School nearby but they were very large and expensive ($165-$170/week). When I started my own biz and could no longer afford that and they wouldn't let me do part time care, I called my friend, Elizabeth Chavez, who started The Shepherd's School to assist Dallas Seminary students with affordable childcare. Turns out most of her families are single moms. Not only did she allow my daughter to go only 3 days a week, she also lets me pay on a sliding scale based on my husband's income. I was worried my daughter wouldn't like it because it is so much smaller than her previous school, but she loves it! F.Y.I. Elizabeth is a seminary graduate with a counseling license. She's great with kids. Her phone number is ###-###-#### and their website is www.shepherdsschool.com. Tell her Cathy King sent you.

Hi K.,
I currently have my three year old son in Woodbridge Day School. They are a curriculm based school and are very good with kids. This is the first daycare my son has been in and by the 3rd day,he didn't want to come home. I am currently paying $120 /week. The daycare is managed by a husband and wife and the student to teacher ratio is 1:6.I highly recommend them. They are located in N. Dallas At Plano Rd. and LBJ.They are open from 6 a.m - 6:30p.m. Telephone # ###-###-####.
