I am looking for an in-home day care for my child starting in March of '09. I was wondering what the average cost per day was for something like this? I am also looking for a babysitter to come in twice a week for 4 hours per day.

What can I do next?

It depends on the age of your child and the county. In Will County, it is $150/week for an infant or $30/day. Hope this bit of info is helpful to you.

I charge $180 a week for infants (no idea how someone had such a low number for Will County!). My part time rate for that age is $5 per hour, so for 8 hours a week that would be $40 a week. BUT I am sorry to say that I will not take an infant for that little time. Just not worth it to tie up a spot. MAYBE if I had another baby that was part time as well, but as a licensed provider we can only have 3 under the age of 30 mos and to tie up one of those spots for 1/5 of my normal pay is not something I can do.

Maybe I misunderstood what you wrote and you were looking for someone to come to your house 2 days a week and a daycare the other few days of the week? If that is the case I highly recommend you instead do full time daycare provider. The reason is that infants need consistency just as much as older kids. If they are not having a consistent schedule it is harder for them to adjust and feel secure.

If you do decide to go full time, feel free to check out my website http://www.freewebs.com/tarastoyland and contact me closer to your due date. I can't tell what my enrollment would be next March.
