Don Pablos used to be the "family" mexican joint. No that they are closed, we are looking for a good family oriented restaurant, especially one that has grilled chicken (my son's favorite).
We have always loved Guadelajara. The one at Strawbridge on General Booth has a train that runs around the ceiling and there are tropical fish tanks and a waterfall into a pond that our boys can't wait to go see. Their food is a bit more pricey but it is the best.

Being an avid Mexican lover, I would say the best restaurants would be Dos Amigos. There are two establishments, one on Battlefield Boulevard and one on Kempsville Road. The other great one is Plaza Azteca. THey have great food and ambiance!
Rancho Grande is THE BEST mexican restaurant around. They have 2 open now--one off of Volvo where all the new stuff is & one on Military Hwy.
We like El Azteca off of Little Creek Rd, just before Thrift Store City. Everything they have there is AWESOME! Service is fast and wonderful.

My abosolute favorite is Plaza Azteca on Laskin. Very good food, and kid friendly.
i was sad don pablos closed too! i have heard a lot of rave reviews about GUADALAHARAS. there is one at town center va beach. buena suerte!
