James K is great. He has been doing the pottery barn kids sing- alongs as well as private parties, etc...My kids listen to his cd's constantly. Andy Z is another popular kid's performer.

There's a musical performer in Alameda named Cowboy Jared. Here's his website: http://cowboyjared.com/iDW/Home.html

He performs Friday mornings at the Crosstown Coffeehouse/Community Center. Also a friend of mine had him perform at her daughter's 4th birthday party,he was great. He also has a 5 yr & almost 2 yr old daughter, so very intuned with kids. Definitely check him out!!

My daughter and I went through this program and I taught for awhile. This is such a fun program for kids and families. The website emphasizes their class and program but they do individual events such as these at times.

Hi S., I was at a 5year old birthday party in Oakland, there was a Childern's Entertainer named "Magic Dan" although he didn't play music, he was fun to watch ,the kids loved him ! They also learned about taking turns and sharing. The adults loved him also. Dan Sneider ###-###-#### or www.magicdan.com Good Luck and have FUN !

My girls' old preschool had a wonderful music teacher whom I think also does performances - I just remember her first name is Katie, but if you contact Mustard Seed Preschool in North Berkeley you could find out more details.

How about Barbershop/Sweet Adeline quartets? (Barbershop is men choruses; Sweet Adelines are women's choruses) There are a few good choruses around that have quartets who go to different schools, fairs, events, etc... I think the kids would get a kick out of it. They sing all kinds of music, tell jokes AND one of the main purposes of Barbershop/Sweet Adelines is music education, especially to kids. Barbershop/Sweet Adeline music is a capella vocal music (no instruments) covering a wide range of musical styles. Here are some local choruses you can contact about finding quartets to come to your school. (I don't have all of their website names, but you can google them):

Voices in Harmony (Barbershop)
Penninsulaires (Barbershop)
New Dimensions Chorus (Barbershop)
Pride of the Pacific (Sweet Adeline)
Harmony Crossroads (Sweet Adeline)

Give them a try. I think the kids will like them. I hope this helps!

How about Sandie and Stevie? They performed at my daughter's preschool one year and the kids just love them! They drive around in a ladybug VW Bug and wear silly hats, etc. They're really fun.
