Hello all-
My daughter turns one the end of December. I know this is really early for planning however with all the holidays coming I am trying to think of places to have a birthday party for my daughter. Our home is too small to do anything there. Since its the winter the weather is too risky to have it at a park. I will have a handful of kids and adults nothing too crazy but I wanted to do something. I live in the East Bay. Can anyone suggest anywhere that might work?

What can I do next?

The downtown Berkeley Y has a great tumbling room -- it's small and self-contained and available for b-day party reservations.

I don't know if your recreation department is the same, but in Danville/ Alamo you can rent rooms at the community centers and local parks for a very reasonable fee. Good Luck:)

Hi Jamie,

I too live in the East bay but haven't for very long. One of my friends is suggesting her and I go to this place http://www.tumbleandtea.com/play-area.html since I have a newborn. If you go to their site, there is a tab for birthday parties. I don't know anyone who's done it, but it is probably worth checking out. Also - I believe Gymboree Play and Music hosts parties too.

Here's some other inof... My friend has done some interesting indoor parties, however, it would be best for an older child (I think). Since your daughter is a winter baby I'll tell you anyways because weather will always be a concern. This year she did a ballet party. There are dance schools that will host your birthday. All you do is send the invites and bring the favors. There are also parties at Michael's (or is it Joanne's - I forget which one) but they basically set up a room for you and give them crafts to do.

Hope that helps a little!

We have private and semiprivate options, and what makes us truly unique is our safe and engaging playpark designed for the smaller set. Your local Gymboree play place is a great place for little ones. Both my daughters loved taking classes there and they do a nice job for birthday parties. All of the play equipment is small and padded (perfect for crawlers and first walkers), it's inside and they have lots of fun games and activities. Good luck!

Doesn't Gymboree do parties, and if its not too far - The Jungle in San Jose is a great place for a kids party..good security and lots of stuff for children of different ages (kind of like chuck e cheese...but way better food selection and baby/toddler places to play) Also another idea is the San Jose Childrens Museum...they have a water area, bubbles, and lots of exploring for lil ones with a food court on site also.... good luck with your adventure

You should consider Gymboree Play and Music - the equipment is all designed for children aged 5 and under. You can do limited food there (host provides cake, juice and water for adults) and the teachers are all trained specifically for that age group.

You can get more information through the website at www.gymboreeclasses.com or let me know if you have any questions. It's not too early to plan for December as that's a big season for indoor parties. I would recommend reserving early wherever you decide to go.
