Seeking Mom's Group in Lake Orion

Hi, I am a new mother of an eight week old. I love being a mom. But I have just recently decided to quit my job which I am lucky enough to do in order to stay home with my baby. But I am already starting to feel a little isolated. I am 36 years old and most of my friends children are of school age and they are back to work. I miss my social life at work and would like to know if there are any mom's groups in Lake Orion to join so I dont feel so lonely during the week. Thanks

What can I do next?

Have you heard about MOP'S (Mother of Preschoolers). The one I belonged to was in Oxford at Holy Cross Church (you don't have to be a member). They offer child care and a chance for you to meet with other moms twice a month. There is another one held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Baldwin. I would recommend these groups to any moms.
Sincerely,
T.

Yes, The MOMS Club of Lake Orion has two chapters. One is for the north and one for the south. I think the dividing line is Clarkston Rd. It is a wonderful national organization that provides playgroups, adventures and meetings to help moms connect and find support. Enjoy staying at home with your baby. If you go the the website for MOMS Club, you should be able to find contact information for these clubs.

You can check Cafe Mom and Joining Moms and try doing a search by location. There are probably some groups for your area there. If there aren't any groups, both of those sites allow you to send messages to members (on that site, so you aren't giving or getting private contact info) where you could send an invite to become friends on the site. Once you're comfortable, pick a public place and meet in person and let things develop from there.

Check local churches for MOPS groups. Local libraries frequently offer age-specific classes for free. You could meet other moms there. Join a co-operative preschool. You'll meet the other moms and can start playdates on off days. If you're out somewhere and see a group of moms that is out together, ask them if it's a mom's group and check into membership.

Some other sites that help you find playgroups and other moms are:

Have fun searching :-)

I am feeling the same way, even though I'm thrilled to be at home with my 3 1/2 month old. I am 34 and am also looking for Mom's groups.

Hi J....there is a MOPS (Mother of pre-schoolers) group that meets in Lake Orion. There are some great moms in that group walking the same path that you are with your little one.
"Meetings" are twice a month. Contact me if you'd like more info. I've been involved with MOPS for many years and love it!

Hi J.,

Congratulations on becoming a new mom! I coordinate a mom's group that meets in Rochester. Perhaps that's too far a drive for you. But if not, you're welcome to join us! Check out our webpage at: www.oakarbor.org/community/momstots.html.
