Seeking Great Midwife (Or DR) for Pregnancy and Delivery of Second Baby

Hi moms, I live in between Oswego and Montgomery close to Aurora and my previous Midwife (from Women First) moved out of state, and I have a different insurance company that I am unsure of which practices it will support. So, I am looking for recommendations. I want someone who will respect my feelings and not demand me do a bunch of extra tests/expensive procedures-I am really a minimalist when it comes to pre-delivery procedures. I also really prefer a midwife over a doctor, but will consider someone great. I'd like to deliver at Provena Mercy if my insurance will cover it.

I'd also appreciate any advice against certain DRs-if you feel comfortable sending me that because I don't know yet who is on my preferred provider network and if I don't see anyone familiar, I'd hate to pick someone with a bad track record. I am not far along and will probably schedule my first appointment in the next four weeks so, if you see this after a week or so feel free to keep adding input.
Thanks so much everyone.

What can I do next?

Hello, I have a client (I am a natural birth instructor) who lives near your area and she found a great practice of midwives called, West Suburban Women's Health Center. They may seem far from you, but she says it is so worth it as they are fantastic. She will have to deliver out of Hindsale Hospital though. Otherwise, I have recommended my own OB to people and they are a group of women located in Lisle off of Ogden called the Dupage Health Specialists. I love Dr. Bromberger. They typically deliver out of Edward Hospital which is a little closer to you. I hope you find the right fit for you!!!!

You should talk to Rebecca L. She had a midwife and delivered at Mercy. She had a VERY minimal delivery (I know she'll tell you all about it). I have her email if you want it. See you on Wednesday. :)

Hi,

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I highly recommend Karen Barr and Noreen Prukuski with Rush-Copley in Aurora. My pregnancy with them was great, both have excellent bedside manners and I always felt my questions were answered without being rushed and my opinions and preferences were understood and respected. I delivered in January 2009 with Karen and had a fabulous natural water birth. I had some beginning signs of pre-eclampsia and they were both excellent with my care and monitoring everything in order to ensure safety and health for my baby. I can't say enough good things about them!

Good luck!

I am using midwife Deb Riddell at Women First. Her office is right across from Provena Mercy. I really, realy, really, really like her.
