Seeking Easter Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday

We're looking for a public easter egg hunt on Sunday, April 12. I know of some on the 11th, but wanted one for that Sunday. We don't belong to a church, and would feel uncomfortable attending a church's egg hunt as non-members. Anywhere in the Denver metro area would work.

What can I do next?

Hope Community Church always has one on Easter Sunday that is specifically geared toward community members--not church members. It is usually at Platt Park (near Wash Park) and I am not sure of the time. http://hopefordenver.com/Visitors.html is the website, and you could send an email or call for info on it. We now attend a church in Littleton, but used to attend there, and it is a very friendly and non-pressuring church. Honestly, there would usually be 100 kids at the hunt, and only 10 or 15 of them would be regular church goers' children.

Good luck!

Hi A. - The Wilderness Experience has a great event but it is on Saturday April 11. There is an egg hunt as well as fun crafts and activities for the kiddos.

You might also try the Denver Art Museum - they have held egg hunts in past years.

Truthfully, I wouldnt be shy about taking your kids to a church egg hunt even though you aren't members. Call a few churches near your neighborhood to see if they are doing an egg hunt and just go. They expect to have lots and lots of visitors that day. You may just see some people you know.

Hope you all have a fun time!

Hi A. - the South Suburan Parks and Recreation sponsors a public easter egg hunt at DeKoevend park each year. I'm not sure of the date though; it may be on a Saturday. But I would check with Denver Parks & Rec and some of the surrounding areas as well.

I am not sure how many sponsored egg hunts will happen on Easter Sunday (due to the holiday and all)... but here is a thought. You could have yourself or your husband go to a park or playground near your home about 30 minutes ahead of you and your children and hide eggs all over the place. Then when you get there, you can have a hunt of your very own! It's more work, but would be fun!

We do a hunt on Easter with our family in the backyard or a nearby park (about 28 of us or so with kids included). We all bring our kids' Easter baskets (empty) and a bag of plastic eggs filled with Cheerios or Goldfish for the tiny kiddos, and candy for the bigger kids. A few of us take all the eggs and hide them outside, and then we let the kids out to find them! The young kids' eggs are in one area, and the big kid eggs are in another. We re-use the eggs every year and it's become a wonderful tradition. We even did it in the snow one year! The eggs weren't very hard to find that time! :)

I wish you luck - I think hunts are advertised in the paper at some point... maybe check online as well. Watch for signs posted around your neighborhood as well.
