My daughter will turn 5 this coming May, and my husband and I have been prayerful regarding what to do re: her schooling and still aren't sure what we're doing for next year. She currently attends preschool at Mt. Gilead Enrichment Academy in Keller. This is her second year there, and we love it, but their program only goes through age 4. We also have a 2 year old boy who is there as well. We have considered public school. However, if we did go the public school route, she would be attending Lone Star Elementary in Keller, and Keller is still only half day (3 hours per day, Mon-Fri). We are really thinking we would like her to go full day somewhere at a private kindergarten. Does anyone have any experience with a private school in Keller or surrounding areas that they would recommend? We are actually considering continuing the private schooling past Kindergarten as well. We haven't visited any of the private schools yet, but through online research/word of mouth, a few of the ones that we are interested in researching further are First Baptist Keller, Covenant Christian in Colleyville, and Fort Worth Christian in North Richland Hills. We are considering all of our options, and I have actually recently begun contemplating homeschooling. However, at this point, I don't feel like I'm being called to homeschooling. Recently, I have received information re: Coram Deo Academy in Flower Mound which is a Christian Academy which is partial homeschooling and partial campus classroom teaching. Does anyone have any experience with them? As you can tell, we aren't sure exactly which route we're going and are wanting to pursue all of our options, so any advice/suggestions/feedback you wonderful Moms have would be most appreciated.

J.,

Have you considered placing your daughter's name in the lottery for Westlake Academy? This, in my opinion, is the best school in the area. www.westlakeacademy.org

They use the IBO program. www.ibo.org.

The kindergarteners begin learning Spanish and they go to specials such as Art, Music and PE. They are also taught sign language. Once they are in First grade, they begin strings classes and have a choice between the Cello, Bass, Viola or Violin. The teaching staff is amazing as well as the administrators. The students behave more like brothers and sisters than classmates. The class sizes are small and they wear uniforms. My kindergartner comes home and talks about how he was a "risk-taker" that day in school. He talks about being "well-balanced and principled". It's just amazing to see how the curriculum is applied and how he soaks it up. It's a joyful school and a beautiful campus--a bonus.

Kindergarners have to option to join the Garden Club, Scottish Dance Classes, a Sporties class, and they have a soccer team for that age group.

There is no guarantee that you will get in, but the applicaton process has begun already for 09/10.

E-mail me privately if you have any further questions.

I second Ft Worth Christian. My kids have been there since Pre-K and are now in the 7th grade. We love it. I even taught there for 6 years-before my kid's schedule took over mine. :) Look at their website. They have open houses during the day for you to look at the school and observe classes. YOu can also call ans schedule a private tour. If I can answer any specific questions about FWC, please send me a message.

My daughter is currently attending kindergarten at Fort Worth Christian and we couldn't be happier. It's a wonderful environment and I am impressed every day with the level of learning that they are already doing in kindergarten. They attend many special classes throughout the week: music, art, spanish, pe, computer and library in addition to daily chapel. It's small enough so you can get to know the teachers and other families that attend. They have open houses in January and you can get information on their website at www.fwc.org. Please contact me if you have any specific questions. Best of luck in your search!
