Seeking a Good Preschool in Shawnee

My just 3 year old daughter is currently in a wonderful montessori preschool that my neighbor runs out of her home. Unfortunately she is closing the school because she was handed a great opportunity. So now I am looking for a new preschool for my daughter for the fall. I have visited the basics; St. Joe, Goddard, Christots, La Petite, Kindercare, and Maranatha. I really wasn't impressed with any of them and/or the times and days offered were terrible. I am looking for two to three half or full days a week where there is actual learning going on. I want her engaged. I stay at home so if I wanted her to play all day I would keep her home. I do not want a day care. Is there any place out there that I am missing that you love? I would love another in home school like she has been going to but I have yet to hear of anyone doing that. I am in western Shawnee and would like to stay in Shawnee or Lenexa. Thank you so much for your help!

My 2 daughters also went to Adventure Time Preschool and they both loved it and learned so much - it wasn't just playtime. We had a great experience with Adventure Time and all of the teachers were wonderful and caring. I would highly recommend it!

It's been a few years since we've been there - but, we were very happy with the learning & experience at Monticello Methodist Church off of 75th & K7. They have preschool, mom's day out, and daycare. At the time we were there - they not only had their preschool teachers, there was an art teacher, spanish teacher and music teacher too. Good luck finding the fit that's right for you and your child. But, I would act soon - as most places have already held their enrollment for fall - and you may have to get on a waiting list. (As there's not many options in Western Shawnee area for as many kids that are in the area.) Good luck!

Adventure time preschool is great!!!!! both of my sons went there for 2 years and my baby girl starts there in sept. it will be 3 year old preschool. they dont just play but do work also. Its school. there will be parent/teacher conf. and school parties. The 3 year old classes are tue, thur 9-1130 but you can do after care till I think 3pm. the teachers there are so caring and we just LOVE them!!!! its in Shawnee. its only the school year,sept-may so you would need summer care.
good luck:)

If you are looking to stay in a montessori program we are sending our daughter to Global Montessori Academy on the Plaza in Aug. We have toured twice and loved it. We just took our daughter there yesterday and she loved it and keeps talking about it. Kids are allowed to go part time which is great for us and there is before and after care if you need it. I have also heard many good things about Old Mission on Shawnee Mission Pkwy. Don't know about schools actually in Shawnee but sometimes if you call a school you have heard good things about they can make recommendations for you. Good luck!

I was going to recommend my neighbor's Montessori school, but obviously that is where you are already going, when I looked up her website, I see that she is closing in May. My almost 4 year old son goes to Kindercare off Johnson Drive, he has since he was 11 months old. We love it, we think he learns a lot, but it is also a daycare. He already can sight read many words, and write all of his letters and numbers. So there is learning involved too.

This isn't in your area, but I figured I would let you know, so if you didn't find something you liked, you could consider it. Global Montessori on the Plaza is WONDERFUL and they definitely learn, A LOT. I know they have different break downs for times/day, I'm just not sure what they are. They also run through the summer if you opt for that. Good luck!!
