Ruined Dance Costume

My daughter had dance pics yesterday afternoon. Her costume was folded up in the bag it was delivered in until we got ready to go. It was really wrinkled so instead of ironing it which I didn’t trust myself to do I threw it in the dryer to knock the wrinkles of…..
It was only in for a few minutes and came out worse than before. We go through pictures but I’m afraid I may have ruined it. Once we got home the tag read do not dry clean! The costume is the typical toile type fabric skirt that 3-4 year olds wear? It looks that the heat may have damaged it, but its underneath and not really visible. Is there anything I can do to make it look any better? At least get rid of the wrinkles that I think were caused by the heat. This is our first year dancing and I have no idea about this kind of stuff? Glad the costume was only $35.
Any advice is appreciated.

What can I do next?

Lol! I am a dance teacher and have heard of a ton of costume disasters from parents...everything from loosing it ("I think the cleaning lady threw it away"!!!) to the dog actually eating holes in it (which just happened this year)!!!
NEVER wash it in the washer or dryer (which I'm sure you know now). The best way to get the wrinkles out is to hang the costume upside down (which will keep the skirt fluffy as well) and hang it in the bathroom (away from any water) for a few days. The steam from the shower will usually release any wrinkles in the fabric.
The better news is since pictures are done you probably only have the recital left....and costumes are very forgiving on stage...you won't see a thing! : ) Hope that helps!!!

I don't know when the preformance is, but you can hang it in the bathroom and let the steam from the shower to some work on it.

oy lady, hahaha. pics are done, right? nobody will notice the costume when she's on stage. even the pics will be awesome as you won't be able to get up close photos. so, it's ok. hey at least yours cost 35, our was 85 each grrrr
