Resume....help

You can contact you local state's department of unemployment. They usually have resume writing assistance that is free. Also, sometimes the local community colleges have the same. I know ours does and it's open to anyone who lives in the district.

Just google "Functional resume". It is a resume that highlights your skills, as opposed to your specific jobs. It looks like any job searching site has templates, articles etc. Good luck!

If you have Microsoft Word, you can download free templates where you simply fill in your information. I agree with the person below however, who said that your cover letter will be at least, if not more, important than your resume, so make sure you spend a LOT of time making that really specific and highlighting how your skills will translate to the needs of the company where you want a job.

best advice is to look at the job you want to have. Mirror your qualifications in previous jobs to most closely align with the skills they are looking for. Since this is a career change, highlight any additional training that highlights why you'd be good or qualified for this new job. Also, consider looking at Monster or career builder. they have resume examples.
also you can google "how to write a resume" and get a lot of samples and examples to follow.

In your case, the cover letter will be key to explain why you are changing careers, etc.

Microsoft Word has a free template. Just go to your start button, click & it will bring up "documents". Go in there & type in "resume" in the open box

When you find one you like, you can either type in your information over it or copy & paste it opening new Word document.

Just logged on to tell you what Amanda did. I used to work for the Dept of Labor. We had workshops and help with writing resumes, interviews and for those that can't afford, suitable clothing for the interviews.
