Renting a Beach House for One Week - Good Websites to Find One?

I am looking to possibly rent a house for 1 week in July for my little one (and me!) to get our beach on :) I would like somewhere close to home – I really like Long Branch, NJ beach, because it is a quiet, family-oriented beach.

Whenever I do a search I get all these places that rent for a month at a time… yet I know there has to be a good resource for short term vacation rentals.

Do you have any websites that you have used for such a thing that you would recommend?

Thanks in advance!

I've used VRBO 8-10 different times to find beach houses in California, Hawaii and Maine. Many of the houses require a week minimum stay but not all. A couple of the houses were managed by the home's owner, the others were listed on VRBO but managed by a property mgmt. company. Either way, we never had a problem. I usually ask alot of questions before committing: what's around the house, traffic and safety for the kids, can you walk to the beach, where to get groceries, park, any hazards inside the house for little ones: stairs, glass tables, expensive antiques.... Some things don't show up in the photos, and the owner or manager can give you tips to make your trip go more smoothly. One manager even had a crib, high chair, stroller and other baby stuff ready at the house for us when we arrived since we were flying and couldn't bring all we needed. Have a great time at the beach!

Ask a friend who rented a house there what they used and if they liked the company. We like Long and Foster for most places we have rented.

IF you are not picky about the days that you go, you can call some of those places that rent for a month and see if you can go inbetween some of their other rentals. My parents did that last year and we went from like Thursday to Thursday we also got a pretty big discount, because it was a time that they wouldn't have been able to rent out otherwise.

Hope that helps.

We recently stayed in Ocean City NJ at www.watsonsregency.com. Each room has a kitchen, living room (pull out couch) and a separate bedroom. There is an indoor pool for rainy days, it's a very short walk to the beach and fun boardwalk. Have fun!!!
