Recommendations for a Pediatric Dentist in Springfield Area

I am looking to take my 3 year old son to a pediatric dentist in the springfield area. Can anyone suggest any pediatric dentists and/or dentist's offices?

My son still puts up the biggest fight when it comes to getting his haircut. I'm hoping that going to the dentist won't be like going to Cookie Cutters! I know a lot of pediatric dentists have their first visit as just sitting in the chair, etc. But I really want a dentist my son won't be afraid of.

What can I do next?

I just read your request. I work for a dentist in Springfield and while we do see alot of families, we refer our kids who are a little more apprehensive to Dr Carrie Arquett at Child Style dental. They are located on Delaware just behind Panera on Battlefield. I have read some of the responses and she is the one I would take my child to. Sometimes children do much better if the parent stays in the waiting room, you might try this. Also, take him to visit the office before his appointment so he can see what the office is like and meet some of the staff. Good Luck, he will do much better than you expect.

Hi J.! My son is 2 1/2 and he recently had his first-ever dentist appointment with Dr. Carrie Arquitt of Child Style Dental. I would highly recommend her. My son did get a little scared when they laid the chair back to do the examination, but Dr. Arquitt and her staff worked with him really well to calm him down.

It sounds like your son had a bad experience at Cookie Cutters? My son hated that place. Now I take him to Details Salon where I get my hair cut and he does great. He has lots of thick hair, so he gets his hair cut at least every 6 weeks, so he's pretty used to it by now. The stylist that we go to (Candace German) works with alot of kids. Several of my friends take their kids to her. Anyway, just thought I'd give you her name even though you weren't seeking advice about haircuts!! :-)

My daughter was just 26 months when I first took her to the dentist. I found a video at the Library... Bucky Beavers visit to the Dentist. She watched that over and over again and we talked about it a lot. I didn't take her to a pediatric dentist. She went to my dentist... Dr Gary Dollens. He let my daughter, my husband and I all go back together. She watched me first and she couldn't wait to get in the chair herself. She let them floss, clean and polish her teeth. I was so proud of her. Some of it may just be personality, but I think some of it is preparation too. Good luck.

We go to Dr Chris McKowen on Stewart St. We love him, They let the mom go back witht the child and they give them cool toys when they are done. My son beggs to go back. I was really surprised that Addison would like to go. His number is ###-###-####

I recommend Dr. Small. I just took my 6 year old to him and he is very patient and understanding. He is on Primrose just west of Jefferson.
