Over the next month or two I am going to start looking for a new car seat for my son... I have the Graco one now and need something still that's very comfy and long for him... He's a taller baby.. What do you recommend that's considered very safe yet comfortable and long for him for when he turns 1?

What can I do next?

I guess mine is the same as the others, but the Britax seats are the best. I have the roundabout and my son loves it, but if I had it to do over again I probably would have just gotten the marathon. I have a graco for a second car and my son doesn't like it nearly as much.

Hey Kristy!
You can see the Britax Marathon wins across the board, which is the one my Mom's group recommended to me. The price, though, was so crazy, and it turned out it didn't fit in our car because it is so big and bulky. We found a good comparison to the Britax was the Evenflo Triumph - It fit in our car, got great crash ratings, weighs less, and is about half the price. Three other families I know have it and love it as well. Hope this helps!

Kristy,
I use the Britax ($269) marathon and love it. Its real simple to put in the car. The extra car seat I got was the Graco ($99). Christian is comfortable in both and you know he is a chucky monkey ;-). I recommend the Britax. Seth down the block has it too. Stay away from eddie baur. If you have any questions or want to check it out come by and put Banyan in it.

We priced the seats and went with an Evenflo Triumph. Check out consumer/safety ratings. I also did some "field study" at Babies R Us and asked a long-time employee in that department there... he recommended Evenflo over Britax because our daughter was off the scale height-wise. He said that the crotch buckle/strap on the Britax was too short for some tall babies and the Evenflo tended to fit them better. We've been extremely happy with our choice. My daughter settled right into the plush seat from day 1!
(I know Britax has many loyal customers, I just wanted to give you another pov.)

Britax, it is the only car seat I would ever put my children in... I work for a personal injury attorney and the products attorney we use said that it is the ONLY company that does any safety testing on it's car seats.....

Britax is a great car seat. They are pricey, but I do highly recommend it. My sisters and and sister in law have them for their kids, as well as me.

I purchased the Britax Marathon (great for taller kids and up to 65 lbs) for my son and he loves it. Very easy to install, especially if you have a latch system and if you travel, you can use it in the airplane. If money is an issue, I would recommend checking Albeebaby.com They have sales from time to time. And, if you need more info about car seats, don't go to babie's r us. They do not know all their products. You will get better service at Baby Love. Good luck

I also recommend the Britax Marathon. We recently purchased one from bestbuybaby.com. You can find them on sale from time to time and mine was only 229.99 with free shipping.

If this is still too much money to spend, (Our parents chipped in to help us buy it...) Fisher Price Safe Voyage Deluxe is an excellent alternative. It's actually made by Britax for Fisher Price and uses the Marathon shell. http://www.livingincomfort.com/fisavodecoca.html
$122.00 at the above website was the cheapest I found. Hope this helps! My son LOVES his Marathon!

britax!
you'll get more use from the marathon than the roundabout
my 4yr old is still in his marathon

keep baby REAR facing as long as the seat allows! it's SAFER!
forget the 1yr/20lb rule!!! go by what's safest for your precious cargo :)
