Was there a fever? I'm gonna guess and say it was hand foot mouth disease. It's been going around every where again. Very contagious in kids, but not harmful. Not good for adults that catch it.
My two year old daughter broke out in a flat rash (face & body) the begininng of this week but it didn't seem to bother her. It is now cleared up but my 6 month old daughter now has it and again it is not bother her either....just wondering what it could be and if I should be concerned...???

Hi D. it could be a heat rash, those are very common in baby's and toddlers during the summer months. If iy tends to go away and does not cause discomfort i would not worry about it, if you need peace of mine get it checked out J.
Since both kids had it, it could be an infectious disease. It would be a good idea to at least talk to the advice nurse at your ped's office, and describe the rash and any other symptoms, like fever.
You can also google "identifying rash" and get many hits that may help you determine what you're seeing. Here's one site that gives links for many possible causes, so you can investigate more thoroughly: http://www.healthy-skincare.com/diagnose-my-skin-rash.html
Hello, I can't say that this is what your children have, but when one of our grandsons was about two years old, he returned from a visit with his parents with his face full of rash. They had taken him to a doctor which wasn't his. That doctor told them that he had chicken pox. I told them that I didn't agree, as he hadn't had any of the other symptoms (runny nose, fever, etc.). I called his pediatrician and was told (after explaining the rash) that he had what is called "slapped face syndrome". It has another medical name and does not mean the child has been slapped, it is just called that because of the way it looks. It went away on it's own and caused no other problems. You could call your childrens' doctor to ask about this.
Good luck with your precious family.

Maybe Fifth disease or Hand, foot, and mouth disease?
Fifth's Disease is going around right now. Go get it checked out.
Could be anything but wanted to add another idea. My kids are red heads with very sensitive skin and have had reactions to varius sunscreens. My kids got a bright red rash everywhere the sun screen was applied- looked like bad sunburn actually. Just wanted to add my experience in case it wasn't any of the other things suggested.
If a she also has a fever, then call the doctor.
You really should take your kids to their doctor... if it is the "slapped face" virus, which is Fifth's disease, it's not that bad for them but it's very dangerous for pregnancy. You wouldn't want to be out & expose a pregnant woman to the virus. Also, my son just had scarlet fever which is extremely contagious. He seemed totally fine - I only took him in because he had had a rash & my older son had had Fifth's before. They made us leave by the back door & keep him home from school for a week. Again, my kids were fine with both viruses...it's just about keeping it from spreading & putting someone else in danger...
I like the laundry detergent idea especially if there is no fever involved but usually a reaction like that does involve some definition to the rash (raised).
What about vaccines? Viruses? Get a picture of it?
I'd call your doctor and see what s/he says. My daughters both had scarlet fever a number of years ago. The rash cleared up very quickly with the older one; when it lasted longer with the younger one, I took her in. The doctor said it was scarlet fever and immediately prescribed penicillin for both of them. If left unchecked, scarlet fever can have some serious long-term effects, so it would be a good idea to get it checked out.
Hi D.. Some thoughts:
allergies?
virus?
Did you change laundry detergents? sunbloc? soap?
I would call a dr to inquire, treat and to prevent.
