Rash - Knoxville,TN

My now 6 year old had that mostly all over her body from when she was a baby. She was allergic to everything, even baby soaps, lotions and oils. My doctor told me to try Cortaid in the blue and red package. It's the cream. We put Jergen's Ultra healing lotion on first and then the Cortaid every day, morning and night, and it cleared up. She doesn't really get it now, only when the weather changes and it's not so bad. We use that and it goes away. We tried EVERYTHING else and that was the only thing that worked. Hope that helps!

It could be that there isn't enough air getting to that area. I used ointment on my baby (she was chubby too), but also powder to help keep it from getting moist. I'd save the co-pay if you don't see it anywhere else and he's not bothered by it.

Hi S.,when u bathe him try soaking him in an oatmeal bath 2 or 3 times a week.It should clear up if not use bacitracin ointment.Good luck,H.

I'd take him to your doctor. It sounds like it could be eczema.... My daughter's started behind her knees and inside her elbows.

If it is eczema, your doctor will prescribe appropriate medication.

Has your child been sick or ran any fevers? My son who is 4 had what we thought was a cold and then he got a rash all over his butt. I took him to the doctor and he said it was a type of Strep. instead of it in his throat it ended up on his butt and could pop up anywhere, so you may look in to that if your child has been sick any. I was told by a friend one time that if you put some apple cider viniger in a warm bath and let them soak for a few minites it will cure most rashes.. I have tried this with different rashes on my kids and it has helped most of them. its worth a try.

We had a similar thing when our daughter was 8 months old. We added baking soda to her bath and after a couple of baths it really helped.

My son started getting exzema when he was 5 months old, and still does in the winter. I have tried a lot of different things and this is what works for us: A very mild baby wash in the bath, like Arbonne's hair/body wash, and then RIGHT after the bath I use jojoba(pronounced hohoba) oil on his rash EVERY DAY. I get it at the health food store. I also have a prescribed cream that I use if it gets really bad, but prescription creams can thin their skin out.
