Random Question About Feeding Reptiles

We got a bearded dragon a few months ago (so cute! lol). He loves to eat crickets of course. We've got a cricket keeper & a thingy to help dust them with vitamins & stuff.

My question is, does anyone make something to help feed a reptile while you are away for a bit? I'm thinking some sort of box that you'd stick crickets in, it would have a timer, and at your set time it would open & let the crickets out LOL

I'm just thinking about times when we need to be out for most of the day. We usually give him lots of crickets before we leave, and leave him with collard greens. Would be nice if we could somehow let him be fed at a certain later time haha

Any other tips from other bearded dragon owners? :)

I have no idea. My only suggestion would be to go to the pet store where you got it and ask them. You should be able to learn some more about the feeding habits/schedule of your new pet. For example, should they eat x# of crickets per week, do they eat less during certain seasons, or can they just have "unlimited" access to food?

Our pet reptile is a turtle (we've had him for almost 10 years) and I feed him a "cap-full" of turtle pellets once a week. Now that it's winter, he eats much less, so I only give him about a "half cap-full" every 10 days. Every once in a while I'll give him special "treats" like meat, veggies, or bugs (based on our pet store & local turtle club recommendations).

Good luck! Oh, and PLEASE make sure you & the kids wash your hands thoroughly--reptiles are notorious for carrying nasty bacteria! :)

Ask the pet store, how long they can go without eating.
Because, some reptiles, can go without eating, for awhile.

Also if you only have 1 reptile, then that will also determine how many, per day, that your pet will eat.

But, you'd need to provide water... moisture/misting too, right?
But they get moisture from the greens, too.

I wish I knew of a way for my son's snake to get fed when my son goes off to college next year. I have given the dang thing a bath once when he couldn't shed, but I am not feeding him!
