Hi, wonderful mamas. I have been making soaps and other bath items and have been having so much fun doing it that I would like to try to sell them at a craft show. However I have never done anything like this and could use all the advice i can get! expecually things like how much of each item to have, pricing, ext. It is a 2 day show so that means that i will probally need a lot of items. would expecually love to hear from other people that make and sell soap and bath stuff as far as how well it sells.

The items that I will be selling will be soaps in many different shapes (butterflies, sports, ext); soap with "prizes"in it where kids have to use the soap to get the prize (army men, plastic necklaces, rubber ducks, ext); fizzy bath bombs, bath salt, bath tub paint, foot scrub, sugar scrub. Thanks for any and all advice!

What can I do next?

As a shopper, I'd want it to be reasonably priced (duh) and perhaps have a deal like "buy 3 get one free" or something like that.

Perhaps have some 'sets' made for mom. You can sell those sets to the men who never know what to give their wives. Perhaps make a sign stating so "Never know what to give your wife? Give her a night to herself to soak in the tub." Include some votive candles or chocolates in the set.

Can you have some soaps opened so people can smell them? Everyone likes free samples, even if it's a sample of a scent. Perhaps you could put a bar or two in the bathroom by the sink at the craft fair along with a little index card table-topper that says where your booth is if they'd like to buy your soap they just tried.

I for one, buy my soap at the grocery store as it is more reasonably priced and I know it gets the stink off my husband. ha. But if I saw a deal then I may buy soaps from a craft show like this. I like the toy idea. I may need to buy some of that for my 2 yr old.

You want your display to be attractive. Have a table cloth on the tables. Use baskets to put some of the soaps in. Have a change box where you can separate the coins and bills. Have plenty of change. Have price tags one each item, also have a poster with prices listed. Have ingredients listed on the labels of each item for those with allergies. Arrange all like items in one place on the table. If you have business cards give them out. If you take special orders then have something about that on display. Free samples are always good and a way to get repeat customers. Good luck with your craft show.

You may just have to go to a similar fair on your area to see what things go for. People tend to price by comparision. For example, I would never pay $4 for a bar of soap at wal-mart, but at a craft fair, where everything is more expensive $4 is a steal!
