Hi,
My son is 4 years old and still needs to wear a pull up at night. We currently are using the Huggies Pull-Ups size 4T but I am finding he is leaking through a lot. This happens even when he goes to the bathroom before bedtime. Can anyone suggest another brand or some ideas to prevent this from happening? (BTW-I've was trying to get him out of the pull ups at night but the Pediatrician says his bladder is probably too small yet)

Thanks!

What can I do next?

Dear D.,

They sell a product called diaper doublers. It is on the order of a sanitary napkin, however it is great added support for night time. You may want to consider an overnight diaper, pull ups are not really made to be super absorbent since they are intended for potty training. My son was potty trained at 2 1/2 however he wet the bed for many years after that so I know what you are talking about. I tried everything from limiting fluids, to bringing him to the toilet before we went to bed and nothing seemed to help. He just had to grow out of it on his own. I think Stop and Shop carries the diaper doublers if you do not want to go back to diapers. Good Luck

Someone, pretty sure it's Huggies, makes Overnites. They even make them now to look more like kid's underwear. Check Target, or Wal-Mart. They usually have a better selection of these than the grocery stores do.

I was using pull ups at night for my 4 year old son too, and he wet through about 25% of the time. Just because he lied the design we went to the pampers brand in July. We have only had 1 or 2 wet through nights since then. I also double checked the weight recommendations on sizing to make sure he was in the best size for him too.

My son is the same way. There is an overnight diaper called Good Nights that are built for bigger kids. My son wears the s/m which go up to 65lbs. They work great. We still have nights where he pees through but not normally. I just read something that said that you shouldn't expect your kids to be dry during the night all the time until about age 6.

I am not a fan of pull ups . . I used an overnight diaper at bedtime for my daughter. She wet in it at first but she eventually started waking up with it dry every morning. After awhile I just took them off and crossed my fingers (make sure to get a waterproof liner for the bed! - -accidents will happen...)
