Progesterone Suppositories - Penfield,NY

I wrote in about 5 weeks ago asking for any advice on progesterone suppositories, as I have been taking them for 5 weeks now. This is my second pregnancy, and aside from the minor annoyance of using the suppositories, all has been fine. Last week, I was spotting a little bit on Saturday and Sunday. I was very scared and called my doctor first thing Monday morning and they got me in for an ultrasound. Everything looked great--baby was active, moving all around, the heartbeat was strong and they could find no problems/reasons for the bleeding. They guessed that using the suppositories caused some irritation in the vaginal wall that caused the bleeding. Has anyone else had spotting while using these? Since then, I haven't had any spotting but at times, usually in morning, I have a red tinged discharge, but it is only now and then so I am not really cncerned with that.

What can I do next?

I have heard and been told sometimes when there an implantation going on, there could be some bleeding. Don't stress out because it's not going to help in any way but as long as they say the baby is fine.... I know because I have had miscarriages and know the feeling. I had bleeding with my oldest but he was fine at 6 weeks. He's 5 years old with LOTS of energy. I will pray for you for peace.

I did the suppositories with my first pregnancy and never had spotting. are they monitoring your pg levels with blood tests? Glad you and baby are well. Spotting would make me nervous too. all the best to a wonderful pregnancy and birth!

I had the same thing, you should ask your doctor if they can put you on the oral progesterone. As you can imagine, it's much easier to deal with & no irritation.

I used them but I don't remember having any spotting...of course, seven years later, I don't remember the pain of childbirth either......
Glad they are working! I remember using them for the first trimester, I think--to help with implanting....how far along are you? Good luck!!!!!!

I think I had a bit of spotting with them, but can't remember for sure. You know, you could always switch to the Prog. shot. Hurts like heck, but you won't have the icky discharge (and I didn't have any spotting with the shot).

If you do switch to the shot, make sure you ice your hiney/hip well before getting the shot.

Good luck!

I used them with my second pregnancy. I didn't have spotting but I recall my doctor telling me that having a reddish/brownish/yellowish discharge was totally normal. Incidentally, I had a full term baby this time around so the suppositories, though frustrating, worked. Also, I'm just going to throw this out there....if you are going to use personal lubricant while using the suppositories make sure you get an oil based one. It took me months to figure out that water based, like KY, was a no go. Silly me. I guess pregnancy brain made me forget that oil and water do not mix. I felt soooo dumb. Good luck with your pregnancy!
