Hi Everyone
I was hoping somebody could help me with finding a reputable public preschool in the Westminster,Midway city,Huntington Beach,Fountain Valley area for low income families? Its so hard to find one around here that you dont have to pay an arm and a leg for. The only schools we've seen so far are daycare/school. I'm looking just for a school. My family and I are really struggling financially and would love to give my son a head start at pre school to learn and interact and just to get the feel of being in a learning school enviroment. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

What can I do next?

I live in South County so don't have specific suggestions for you, but what's wrong with pre-schools that also have day care? My sons go to a school like this and it's wonderful. School is specified times of the day and outside of that activities are different during daycare times. I wouldn't limit yourself from schools with daycares...it's just a practical thing that most of us need with the need to have both parents bringing in incomes these days.

Good luck.

Huntington Beach Adult School (and Coastline college and I imagine other colleges, as well) has a "parent education" program that is very reasonable: $45 per semester, which is four months long. It is parent participation, so you go with them. They have 1, 2 and 3 year old classes and maybe older. It is just like school. They have free play, then circle time with singing, then a craft, then outside play, then a snack. It's two hours, once a week, maybe twice (can't remember).

You should find out the public elementary school your kids would attend in the future and ask them. Some districts offer FREE preschool programs. Also check on HEADSTART to see if you qualify.
