I can not afford $5oo a month in preschool. $150 a month at most is my budget. Got any suggestions?

What can I do next?

If it is not in the budget to send your child somewhere you could work with him yourself. You can find preschool "curriculum" on-line and if you visit the kindergarten and ask what their expectations are you can go from there. You can also get books/workbooks from teacher stores or even walmart and walgreens. Basically give him practice using crayons, pencils and markers. Work with him on writing letters and his name. Review letter sounds and read lots of books. Work on colors and shapes. Allow him to practice with scissors and glue. It takes work and patience, but if it's not in the budget the good news is it is not required before kindergarten. Good luck.

Have you tried Head Start? It is free but there are certain income guidelines to be accepted. Have you done a 3+ screening with Parents as teachers? They might have some ideas too.

Close to Arnold is the Treehouse at St. Paul's, on Telegraph. They have preschool, 3 days a week, MWF or 2 days, T,TH. (At least I'm pretty sure they still do the 2 days.) My kids all go there, they stay for extended care - but you can do strictly preschool. It runs from 9-noon, and the last time I did 3-day-a-week preschool there it was about $114 a month (Somewhere around there). St. Paul's is a U.C.C. church, so there is a little bit of Christian curriculum mixed in, which was fine for us. They have a wonderful director and great staff - the number there is ###-###-####, if you are interested. Good luck!

Try calling the Fox c-6 school district they have a pre-k program. I am not sure when the deadline was but I know that you can be put on a waiting list.
