Pregnant and Breaking Out? - Houston,TX

I've been blessed with clear skin my entire life but right now at age 30 with three weeks left in my third pregnancy I'm getting blemishes! I'm assuming it's hormones and I didn't change my diet. I eat vegetarian, high fiber, good fats, wholesome dairy, lots of fruit veggies, whole grain and drink mostly water. I'm guessing it's simply unavoidable. I also exercise every day. I have no arsenal of face cleaners or pimple meds, I have no clue what to do with acne. I never wash my face with anything but warm water, and on occasion a green tea tea bag pressed under my eyes.

Help, this is just not cool .

What can I do next?

It's okay! Calm down! It's completely normal. If you want to get rid of the pimples, you could try an astringent, but chances are your face will clear up again after you give birth, so it may not be worth the effort.

P.S. You're really lucky to have lasted so long! I had acne during my entire second pregnancy.

Pregnancy will do weird things. I had so so skin and then had GREAT skin while pregnant. But many women break out. It'll likely go back to normal after you have your baby. Consider Cetaphil for cleansing.

I've had three pregnancies and my acne always gets realy bad on my neck and chest until about 14 weeks when it clears up and I enjoy better than normal skin the rest of the pregnancy. All of my pregnancies have been boys. Good luck. You can try belli acne wash. (safe for pregnancy), but I really think the hormones can't really be fixed with external cleansers. Hope yours clears soon.

I never had any acne but my sister got it badly with her pregnancies and it always went away after the birth and she hasn't had it since or in-between pregnancies. Don't worry and you only have 3 weeks left.

Oh, that is so not fair! I had break-outs when I was pregnant and remembered feeling so frustrated because I didn't have that "glow." I also didn't know about all the good skin care out there. Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash isn't too drying as some acne cleansers are, but I never thought about if it might affect pregnancy. Check with your doctor.
