My sister-in-law had the same issue after #2. She recently had a chemical peel, or it may have been a "laser" treatment and it is GONE! I don't think it was too costly either. Good luck!

I didn't have it really badly, but had some pretty dark spots on my cheeks.

I know that it is hormonal. I use the Arbonne progesterone cream, but I have also had a hormone panel and a doctor's advice. I have had my progesterone levels checked and I definitely needed it. It has helped. I think it is a great idea to get a hormone panel done by a doctor who specializes in hormone balance.

The thing that made them go away completely, and accidentally, was when I started adding Udo's Oil to my diet. It is a bottle of oil and I started taking 1 tablespoon per day for my adult acne. It took a month or so, but my acne cleared up. I was surprised, however, to find that my dark spots disappeared, too!! You can look it up on line. There is a web site. www.udoerasmus.com

I have found many benifits of adding healthy fats to my diet. We are such a fat-phobic society. But healthy fats are really important to our cells and our digestion. I include fish oil, udo's oil and coconut oil in my diet every day. My skin is healthier than it has ever been. I don't have to use lotion at all.

BTW- I use a tablespoon of the Udo's. It comes in caplets, but you would have to take more then 25 of them to get the same amount of oil. So I buy the bottle of oil. I put it in orange juice or in my smoothy in the morning. You can get a great price at Hi Health. It is in the refrigerated section.

On the dermabrasion and chemical peels - my sister has melasma really bad and has had these procedures many times because the melasma comes back. This does not treat the cause. Check your hormones, get some healthy oils in your diet.

Blessings to you and your skin :o)

I used Obagi. It was a rough 18 weeks, but if you are diligent, it will go away.

Oh L.,
I had the same problem, until I started using some amazing products from Arbonne.
It is a common result of hormones. Are you still on birth control?

Arbonne is a botanically based company that has amazing products. I would love to share with you how they use a blend of science and nature to make some amazing products for you and your whole family. First I would love to teach you about our eye cream that has Kojoic Acid that is a plant based lightener. I have used it on scars, spots on my hands and the 'mask' on my face!

I would love to talk more with you,
T.

You have Melasma (technical term for pregnancy mask) and unfortunately it is near impossible to get rid of. The best thing you can do is put tons of sunscreen on because the sun will make it darker. I am not a big believer in any of the creams but you could get a good exfoliater and use it 1-2 times a week. The best option is getting a laser treatment or microdermabrasion, although it is expensive. I got Melasma with my 3rd child and now pregnant with 4th and it is getting worse....oh the fun of pregnancy! Oh, I am an aesthetician by trade (skin care therapist) but not working for the last 4 years...there could be something new on the market since I've been out of the industry, but laser or microdermabrasion is the best I've ever heard of. Good luck!

Sometimes it just doesn't go away. You might want to try a dermotolgist. He might be able to even your skin tone. But as far as I know over the counter products are just not strong enough.

Have you tried talking to a dermatologist about some form offacial peel or laser procedure? If I remember correctly I believe the pregnancy mask is from hormonal change. I'm not sure if I was any help! A. G

From what I understand, melasma is caused primarily by a hormonal reaction. I had a fairly dark patch on my forehead during and following my second pregnancy. Neutrogena Acne Mark Fading Peel, which has alpha hydroxy acid in it, seemed to help. If you still have darkness this long post-pregnancy, maybe you could consider seeing a dermatologist. They would probably be able to prescribe a stronger topical treatment or maybe even do a exfoliating peel in the office.

Best of luck! =)

I would love to give you a free sample of Noevir BlancNew Reset-W targets skin with age spots, freckles and discoloration in a whole new way. Noevir’s cutting-edge formula combines unique botanicals and the latest technology to deliver amazing results! The ultra-light emulsion instantly absorbs into the skin as it helps brighten and illuminate discolored skin. Specially selected botanicals, such as gardenia extract, rice bran extracts and mushroom extract, work synergistically to diminish the appearance of dark spots and pigmentation, for a beautiful, translucent complexion!

> Instructions - How to use also find me on the web at
http://www.Natural2Skin.com

Features and Benefits:
* Gardenia fruit extract: Helps to brighten dark spots, sun spots and uneven skin tone due to over-production of melanin. Grown on the Minami Daito Island, known for its clean air and pure water, this precious botanical extract has been used in traditional healing practices for centuries.
* Rice bran (oryzanol) extract: Rice bran (oryzanol) extract: Brightens and smoothes skin by regulating melanin production and promoting skin renewal. As skin’s metabolism slows down due to natural aging, stress or environmental factors, it can lead to a buildup of melanin in the skin. By accelerating the renewal of skin cells, older melanin-containing cells can be shed— revealing brighter, healthier skin.
* Mushroom (reishi) extract: Mushrooms have been used in traditional medicine for ages, and among the many unique mushrooms, reishi is one of the most potent. Combined with a multitude of botanical extracts, it helps to improve skin’s own defense mechanisms and aids in the brightening process

Noevir gives a 90 full money back refund with no question asked ever. I personally have been using it for sun damage on my chest and I can show you before photos and the improvements are short of amazing.

At our spa we also offer Photo Light Rejuvenation Facials that may help you get a jump start on the process since the photo light works deep in the dermal layers of the skin.

Feel free to contact me should you have any questions on my cell ###-###-#### or at my store ###-###-#### I wish you the best.
