My family has lived in the UK for the last 3 years, and we are about to move to the Hurlburt Field area. I'd like to send my four-year-old (who has wanted to go to school since she turned two) to a Pre-K, but have no idea where to start. Will I even be able to get her into a Pre-K program after the year has begun? She hasn't started one here. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thank you so much!

The only way they can deny your daughter entrance into a school, is if they are already at capacity. I would put your daughter on the list for Liza Jackson. It's a public charter school, and is one of the best in the area. You might not get in this year, but I would keep her on the list.

If you would like some information i can help you with that. I am currently in the Hurlburt Field area and getting ready to move to the UK. Florida has great Pre-K programs completly paid for by the state. The only criteria, has to be four by september 1st and you can still enroll if you come late. You can send questions and i can answer them for you!!

My child went to the CDC on base at Hurlburt for the VPK (that is what Florida calls the pre-k program). You cannot start in the middle of the school year and CDC at Hurlburt only does the fall class which runs during the school year calendar (Last wk Aug - First wk Jun). I think you can send her next school year, unless she goes to kindergarten that school year.

You can email me if you have more questions about the CDC VPK program at Hurlburt. I can give you their number too if you have questions.

BTW, we just love it here at Hurlburt. Great choice of base :)

Good luck!
