I'm looking for a plastic panty to cover cotton training pants for a 23 month old to help contain 'accidents' when we leave the house. FYI: she refuses to wear pull-ups. Has anyone used Thristies, Bumkins, or Bummis brands?

Thanks!

I cloth diaper and I have both the Thirsties and Bummis brands of covers. Both are great but Thirsties just came out with a duo cover that will go from 18-40lbs so you would get alot of use out of it and you can always use it if you have more kids.

My 20 month old has been potty training since she was 17 months old and we are getting to the point that I'm going to do the same thing-put her in the cotton trainers and use a cloth diaper cover in case of an accident. The great thing about using something designed for cloth diapers is that it will breathe and be better for baby's skin instead of the old school plastic pants you find at wal-mart and target that don't breathe at all.

I would also recommend a car potty.
These are life savers for when you are in traffic, can't stop, there is no bathroom in sight, and the child cannot hold it. We have one in our car, in Grandma's car, and in Aunty's car.

You can find it at www.amazon.com and just put in the search word "on the go potty."

There are some options: wait until she has more bladder control before venturing outside in just her panties, sans pull-ups. If not, she will have accidents... because it is partly largely a biological thing too... if they can't hold it long enough to get to the toilet. Maybe explain to her... that just for now, when you go out.
My friend used the Bummis brand. She just said it was a pain.

Gerber makes "waterproof pants" or "vinyl pants" which you can also find online at Amazon.

Good luck,
Susan

Gerber makes some and we used them, but didn't really like them. Instead I just ended up buying waterproof pads (the ones the sell for infants) and putting them under my kids in the car seat. Then we used the bathroom as soon as we got somewhere and as soon as we left.

Well my vote is for the old fashion nylon pant covers. They are soft and do the job. I tried all the others only to be disappointed by Velcro slipping and having the urine wick out onto the clothes. I would only buy nylon and not the vinyl because the vinyl cracks and tears very easy when washing. The nylon ones lasts FOREVER and remain soft and your safe to wash them in the machine. Here is the brand that I used on my boys: http://www.amazon.com/Dappi-Waterproof-Nylon-Diaper-Mediu...
