Potty Training My Son - Buffalo,NY

My son is almost 3 and has been "poopy" trained since he was 1 year old. He is great about peeing on the potty most of the time but unfortuantley the times he doesn't he's caught peeing in the corner of his room, in a drawer, on a chair or whereever he feels like peeing at that moment. He knows enough to try and hide it so I feel he knows enough to use the [potty then. Any suggestions or has anyone ever experienced this "marking his territory" behavior before??
My daughter spoiled me by potty training totally by 18 months old without problem. LOL

What can I do next?

Hi C.,
I am a mother of three son's all of who went through a marking the territory phase. They would pee in the corner or behind the bed for absolutely no reason at all. Thankfully they outgrew it,but I did have to rip up the carpet in one of their bedrooms.

WISH I could help more! My son just turned 4 in November and is STILL not potty trained. He still sometimes does the peeing in the corner or in drawers and tries to hide it even though of course he knows it is wrong. We've tried everything from the cheerios in the potty to going every hour to my completely not mentioning potty at all to see if he just goes on his own. Nothing works with my son.

I do find he does better when he is not in pull ups though. Pull ups work so good that I think kids who have difficulty using the potty just figure they'll pee in their pants because they know it won't make a mess.

Now how in the world did you get your son to poop on the potty by 18 months!

How is he being disciplined when he does this? If it is too harsh he might be peeing in the corner hoping you don;t find out. I suggest you talk to your pedi. Good luck. Merry Christmas!!
